My issue with the product is that it arrived missing parts. I called the number from Cap on the invoice and the number was disconnected. I then emailed the company. An issue that could have taken five minutes to solve over the phone took over a week of back and forth emails. Cap was glad to send the missing parts free of charge, and I was happy about that. Unfortunately, the company sent me the wrong parts. I'm not sure how this is possible considering that I gave them the part name and number. So frustrating! I'm thinking about sending it back and buying a product from another company.
Second problem is that my Fitness Gear plates don't fit on it very well. There's only enough room for 4 - 45# plates on any post. My 5# and 10# plates won't sit properly because the post are too close together on the side that has 3 post. This allows the 5# and 10# plates to hit each other when loading or offloading. I don't know if it's because the post are too close together or if it's just the Fitness Gear plates. While I do have Olympic plates, I did order the standard tree so I could swap plates quickly. Even if they were Olympic post though, the difference would still be the same and the plates wouldn't fit right. Once again, this could be because of the Fitness Gear plates.
When I move it around to different locations trying to make my home gym more efficient the base plates actually swing/pivot (and that's unloaded). I would have sent this back immediately because it's such poor quality, but I really needed something to keep my weights off the floor. As soon as I can find a heavier duty plate tree, this one is going to the scrap heap. Just be forewarned that CAP is not quality equipment at all. I picked up some of their hex dumbbells in lighter weights for my wife and there is weld splatter on all of the handles (Ouch!) and it looks like they let a 3 year old paint in the numbers on them. But that's a whole different review in itself. I now think they dropped an 'R' from the CAP name because that's my experience with them so far. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because it is actually keeping my weights off the floor right now, but with it's quality, I don't know how long that will last.
