A couple of qualms, Saxon, the leader of the pack opposition was too vague in character and resolution, this could be on purpose for future books, but a little more attention to him would have been more enlightening. Someone asks, "What is the WKA?" The meaning of the letters are not told. They may be in previous books, but knowing what the letters represent would keep me from making up crazy equivalents while reading which was a distraction.
I cannot wait to read more from this author and about Daniel and the pack.
I don't usually read books with werewolves, but this one definitely exceeded any expectations I had. I highly recommend this book.
It this book was a movie (it would make a great one) I would have been on the edge of my seat. I love the way the characters were developed and the new approach to what werewolves are.
This is truly a tale of self discovery, of finding out about one's true nature, discovering one's true family. 16 year old Theodore finds himself drawn to the mercurial Prissy, who unbeknownst to him is a werewolf. Theodore and his brother Daniel had been experimented upon years ago by the WKA, who had also killed their parents. Daniel had escaped, but Theodore did not, in fact he was raised by a family associated with the leadership of said WKA.
Various events, such as an assassination attempt due to infighting among the various werewolf factions, brings Theodore into this circle, in which he discovers that he is a special kind of werewolf. At first he cannot control these abilities, due to what the WKA had done to him as a young child. Daniel, his older brother, holds the key...
All the characters are well developed. I found myself definitely on the side of the werewolves as the WKA really ended up looking like and acting like the epitome of 'dirty ugly humans.' The conflict between Daniel and Theodore, between Wolfgang and Daniel, were well thought out and believable. I found the resolutions in the story to be most satisfactory and I hope that there will be more books about these werewolves in the future.
If you enjoy reading novels that will entertain you and make you think, MY BROTHER'S KEEPER is an excellent choice.
