The Apps on most of the Kindle Fire TV don't play smoothly at all. I literally watch the download bar creep fwd yet no play. It can rewind and fast forward just fine. Only occasionally will it play as it should. CBS news is not the only channel app doing this it is most of the channel apps that malfunction in this way. It becomes very frustrating watching this happen again and again. Please put some technology research dollars at work and make this a non-occurrence.
Live 24/7 is not actually LIVE 24/7. It does have its own news anchor who live in between other segments, but those segments are not from live TV, they are on an hour delay. So when I had cable I would watch CBS morning news, and my favorite-Your world in 90 seconds-comes on at 7am. on LIVE 24/7 this does not come on until 8am, an hour after it is on regular TV and when I'm already on my way to work. The news anchor for the live 24/7 is good, but is often repeating news stories several times in one segment. She reports news/reads teleprompter but not much more. I watch their morning show because I want real reporting from people who explore the news more than what they are reading on a screen. I am a loyal CBS news follower and very disappointed in their live app version. I started watching other news channels just to avoid the frustration of the freezing and unfreezing, before I gave in and bought direct tv to watch the news. Luckily this IS LIVE in the mornings. streaming quality is terrible and often does not work. freezes or is unavailable and i have both verizon fios high speed internet as well as at&t unlimited high speed wireless wifi so it's not my internet connection.
Originally I gave CBS News 5 stars, had to change my rating. The old platform was great. Easy to navigate, never had problems getting videos to play. The new platform is full of glitches. Have to try to start it 2-3 times or more, keeps booting out, back to home. Why when everything is good do people have to fix it? They should throw this platform out and go back to the old, good one. It is free so I shouldn't complain I guess but, there is plenty of commercials. For the first time since I got my FireStick I am watching NBC news rather than fool with it.
I love the CBS News app for a few reasons, the number one reason is that I live in Dallas/Fort Worth Texas and our local news is dominated by the weather, and commercials; seriously the weather takes up half of the news program and if it's morning they spend additional time with traffic reports. So I love this app cause you get the news story after story without much commercials so I prefer to get my news from this app than my local stations.
I like this news channel. It worked great on my Roku. It works less then half the time on my Fire TV. It says it cannot load right now. I am not sure if I need to throw my Fire stick and buy another Roku???
I find that one of the things I miss when I cut the cord was not having the news channels. Now, I didn't want them all the time, but there's often something that is marginally newsworthy for the big channels that I can get over the air but that is something I am interested in.
Instead of having to watch my twitter feed to live through it second-hand, I instead have this sweet little app on my fire stick.
It's just weird to me that the company puts in resources to this when the absolute number of viewers can't really be that big, can it?
I never had intention to buy this as I accidentally purchased it while I was searching channels after hooking up my Fire Stick. Imagine my fury when I got my credit card bill showing I was charged for several movies that I already saw. As a senior, my eyesight is not what it once was. I could not read the already small print on my small screen tv where I connected Fire stick. Live and Learn. Now I'm afraid to touch the remote. Happy New Year . yeah right.
It is very refreshing to find a news outlet that still adheres to traditional values of journalism. CBS for decades has offered fair and fact based reporting. The current crop of fresh faces bristle with enthusiasm as a good news hound should. Today's investigative analysis is a tribute to the influence of Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow as well as many other fine reporters in CBS's broad history.
All too often "news" today is really opinion mixed with innuendo, personal assaults, overblown accusations and a personal agenda. Truth and the real story are overlooked and too often omitted.
