These are amazing! I have used these several times in place of curtains, even adding grommets myself. It SAVES SO MUCH MONEY! For another tip: Go to Home Depot and find 10' Electrical Conduit (galvanized) for $2.50, and then Gorilla glue 1/2" threaded PVC Caps for $0.33 to keep hooks from sliding off the conduit. ¡Voíla! For less than $100, you can put up curtains in your whole house! And if you don't like the galvanized look, a couple cans of RUST-OLEUM Forged Hammered Spray Paint, and you have a gorgeous (and clandestinely inexpensive) window treatment.

this is robust, high quality canvas with double stitching at the seams and fine craftsmanship, overall... as we are utilizing it as a decorative sun and rain cloth, rather than a drop cloth, it has the attractive, high quality with strong, even weave and uniform coloring to serve that purpose.
despite seeing other reviews indicating disappointment that their drop cloth was smaller than described and expected, the dimensions of the canvas we received were 9 x 12, as expected, though that is of no concern for us, as we had room to spare and intend to shrink it with a wash and dry, as a step in our lil’ canvas project process.
we choose a cotton canvas drop cloth, rather than a canvas tarp to eliminate the grommets that make it look like a tarp... this way, we get a decorative canvas and more of that "sail" look that we desired.
so, in order to intentionally shrink it to tighten up the weave, we washed it in warm water and dried it on medium….and, to our pleasure, this cotton canvas washed and dried very nicely! there is no pulling or otherwise at any of the seams and aside from being wrinkled, which we expected, it dried very evenly and tightened up the weave just right, thus reducing the hole size, as we intended… this way, the shrunken weave reduces the hole size of the cotton canvas, which increases the opacity for better sun protection and decreases water permeability;
a tight weave = very small holes = increased opacity/increased sun protection and better water repellency.
our next step in our lil' project is to water proof it with Nikwax. we have used this product in the past on large outfitter type canvas tents, during the cold, damp, rainy season with excellent results, but this is the first time we used this Nikwax waterproofer to waterproof new, raw cotton canvas; [[ASIN:B00I2PCWD8 Nikwax Cotton Proof Waterproofing]]
we applied one (1) coat, per instructions, let it dry, and, wow!!! ... we now have a nice, sail-like rain and sun cloth! :-) . we could not be more pleased... water beads up and rolls off this cotton canvas drop cloth like a waxed car! the wrinkles came out with ease with the tension as part of installation…and, it really looks like a nice, horizontal, natural canvas sail!
i think we all love it when a project comes together...and, this one certainly did!!
though we have not yet had a rain, we have sat under it, very well protected from the sun and we have simulated the rain by spraying it with a water hose, watching the h2o beading and rolling off, just as expected!
additionally, this chicago canvas cotton canvas drop cloth came with an outstanding product warranty, rapidly resolving an initial issue of the wrong item (5'x20') originally shipped due to improper upc labeling...
we are very pleased with this product, the project created from this product, and the proactive, expeditious service...
