Now for the glue gun and not the sticks. It's only ok, it doesn't always advance the glue stick and if you're a lefty (I am) you probably will turn off the gun using it. It does heat up faster than my older Stanley but it drips just as much while heating up or standing between uses. Just an ok over priced glue gun
I wish I was provided this product for an honest review
My mom is an amazingly crafty person. She can look at something and recreate it without any directions. I'm so jealous that I didn't get that from her. She has an amazing eye to for crafts. Sometimes it may take her a few tries with different variations to get it right but she will get it right. A couple years ago her sister-in-law had received a Kleenex box cover that looks like a couch. The fabric was the logo for a baseball team. She asked my mom is she thought she could make it. My mom brought it home and inspected it. She figured it out piece by piece. Since it wasn't hers she didn't want to take it apart because it was expensive. She got it made and it became a huge hit. She has made about 100 of them for family, friends, and friends of family and friends. She doesn't have a business and has a full time job so she does it for fun an barely prices them over what she has in them.
Anyways, of course she has glue guns already but her favorite one finally bit the dust and she has been using an older one that is really bulky while she keeps an eye out for a new glue gun like her old one. I thought that having a mini hot glue gun would be helpful for her so that she doesn't have to use the big, bulky one on smaller projects. She can keep it in the junk drawer when it's not in use. Also, my step dad has recently started doing a lot of woodworking projects. He needs to use a glue gun on occasion and I'm sure my mom would rather him use this glue gun than use her very expensive glue gun. For me, I don't do as many projects as I would like. That gene didn't just skip me but it beat up all the genes that might have had a slight bit of craftiness to it. On occasion I may want to do something and I usually go to my mom for help. It helps that she has a large supply of items for crafts. I knew that I would be more comfortable handing a small glue gun than I am handling her big, bulky glue gun.
Ths Mini Hot Glue Gun with 25 pcs Melt Glue Sticks High Temperature Melting Glue Gun Kit Flexible Trigger for DIY Small Craft Projects & Package and Quick Repairs in Home & Office Cleanly (20-watt, Blue) by CCbetter comes in a clear, hard plastic package. The package is made for hanging in retail environments. There is no paper insert to display information about the mini glue gun in it like most packages like this would have. The mini glue gun is in the package along with a metal kickstand and instructions. This also comes with a resealable pack of 25 mini glue sticks.
This mini glue gun is definitely mini. The barrel that holds the glue stick, from where the glue stick goes in to where the glue comes out is about 5 3/4 inches long. The handle is about 3 inches long by an inch wide. The body of this glue gun is blue. The trigger is orange as well as the glue stick holder inside the barrel as well as the pusher. There is a red power button on one side of the handle. The tip is a silver metal. It's a toggle switch that turns it on and off. Above it, where the handle meets the barrel is an LED light which indicates whether the glue gun is powered on or not. Above the LED light is ccbetter in silver. The power cable is black and is about 5 feet long. It has extra plastic around the power cable where the power cable meets the glue gun to help prevent damage from bending.
The glue sticks come in a thick, resealable bag with a label stuck to one side of the bag. The label says that they're for everyday gluing projects. Also, that it's for all temperatures including low, dual, or high temperature glue guns. The glue sticks are 10.5 x .25 inches.
This glue gun is extremely easy to use. Make sure to hook up the kickstand by putting the ends in the holds on the side of the end of the barrel. The holes have a triangle shaped groove around them. I didn't realize that there was a kickstand at first and did not use the kickstand the first time I used it. It worked fine but I just had to be careful when I laid it down. When setting it down with the kickstand it needs to be set down on a flat surface. Also, underneath the tip there needs to be something to collect any possible drips as to not damage the surface. Then slide the glue stick in the back of the glue gun. It just needs to be pushed in as far as it will go.
After it has been turn on, it takes 3 to 5 minutes to heat up. You may notice a bit of glue starting to drip out of the tip once it has heated up, this is the natural part of gravity. If not, you lightly squeeze the trigger over something that can be tossed out, like a piece of cardboard, to see if it has heated up. When you are gluing, the amount of pressure you put on the trigger and how quickly you move the tip will control how much glue is put down and how thick the line may be. The dry time will vary based on the thickness of the line or glob of glue. As you continue to release the glue, the glue stick will get shorter. When the glue stick no longer fits into the trigger controlled pusher the remaining glue stick just sits in the barrel. Another glue stick needs to be put in to push the previous one down.
Hot glue guns can have some trouble. If you're familiar with using hot glue guns, these fixes are second nature, but if you're new to using a hot glue gun, these issues can be very frustrating. If glue isn't coming out, check to see that the glue stick is still able to be pushed down by the trigger controller pusher. If not, put in another glue stick. If that's not the issues, there could be blockage. Often times, the tip of the glue gun makes contact with the surface that is being glued. This can cause dirt, debris, or pieces of your project to get on the tip. Glue can start to build up on top of this because it isn't making direct contact with the metal tip anymore. It's best to turn the glue gun off and let it cool and then pull of the residue around the tip. We do often do this when the glue gun is on and hot but we have to be extremely careful to not burn ourselves. We also have to make sure that we only use things to scrape it off that will not melt or burn. Glue gun glue does tend to clean up easier and more nicely when it's cooled. For example, if you take a smooth, glossy piece of ceramic tile and squirt a glob or line of glue on it and try to immediately clean it off, the hot glue will still be in a liquid state and will spread around. If you let it dry, you can pop the entire glob or line off in one piece.
This glue gun can produce heat up to 392°. It's very important to keep hands and other body parts away from the tip of the glue gun when it's in use and while it's cooling down. The only place that it should be touch is on the handle and where the glue sticks go in. Also, the glue should not be touched after it has been squeeze out until it's completely dry. It's going to be extremely hot at first and as it's drying it will still be hot. It may look dry on the surface but not be dry under the surface. Always make sure that whatever you plan to use the glue gun on can handle the temperature of the glue. The glue can easily melt surfaces that have a melting point that is close the temperature of the glue. If the melting point of the product is slightly higher than, at, or below the temperature of this glue gun, it will melt. If the melting point is slightly higher, it wont melt but it could become deformed.
Please keep in mind that hot glue will not work on all surfaces. It doesn't adhere well to smooth surfaces so it may not hold heavier items. Hot glue works great as a filler and even as a sealer. If you have something that has a screw on lid that needs to be sealed, you can run hot glue around the threads and screw it on really quickly. The hot glue will spread around and help seal it. Hot glue can even glue items onto things that no other glue could do. For example, gluing a butterfly ornament onto a wreath made of dried twigs. You can build a larger glob of hot glue than you can with other glues so that the glue can go around the twigs and dry like around the various twigs giving it great support.
We have been using this glue gun for a few various projects that we have been working on. Some of them we normally wouldn't use such a small glue gun for but we wanted to test this glue gun out. It has worked great for us. It has worked consistently. It is easy to control the amount of glue that we use with the trigger. The glue works as well as the other glue sticks we use. It's easy to run through these small glue sticks though. That's because they're small!
This isn't a professional glue gun. If you're going to need to get a lot of use out of it I wouldn't recommend this one but if you have small projects that you do here and there, this gun would be just fine.
I received a complimentary Mini Hot Glue Gun with 25 pcs Melt Glue Sticks High Temperature Melting Glue Gun Kit Flexible Trigger for DIY Small Craft Projects & Package and Quick Repairs in Home & Office Cleanly (20-watt, Blue) by CCbetter for inspection, testing, and reviewing purposes. My review is based on my experience with it as well as my mom's.
This was very easy and very fun to use. It is so great to have for so many different types of protects and crafts. This is great for schools, offices, homes, and more. It heats up at one temperature. The glue dries in about 10- 20 seconds. When you are done with your project, if you still have glue in the machine, and or a glue stick. Just simply turn off the gun and unplug it. Place a paper plate under the tip in case and excess glue escapes from the tip. pull out the glue stick from the back of the gun after about 30 seconds and place it on the paper plate.
