This unit is small, easy to read and it can stand on a rack or hang under a rack.
I didn't really need this anymore after testing my oven so I gave it to a neighbor. It is presently making the rounds in the neighborhood.
The only complaint is some sharp edges. I didn't cut myself but I could have.
To my surprise, when my two other thermometers read 400 - this one reads 375. When the temp reaches 450F in both of my 2 others, this one read 400F. So I took it to my bakery institute where I learn prof. baking - this baby fails again. I did 3 tests and it failed 3 times.
I am quite disappointed with this product when there are so many positive reviews. It might just be a lemon product that I got. However, I am glad that I checked its accuracy b4 I place my bread dough in my oven - at least my bread will not be over baked and got wasted. For a breadoholic chick - the right temp. is so vital or my bread will not sing when they come out of the oven.
Just stick this in your oven, and make sure to check it often and take note of how your oven behaves.
As an example, here is what I found out about my oven: it takes longer than I thought to preheat (almost 20 minutes), but after 30-40 minutes it is about 25 degrees hotter than I set the dial, and after 45-60 minutes it runs a full 50 degrees hot.
Which is why I never really noticed before, I rarely bake things for so long. But you can see how a 5 hour roast would be a huge problem without knowing this. Likewise you can see how the 5th batch of cookies might burn if you leave it in as long as the 1st batch without adjusting the temperature.
Now I just adjust the dial accordingly and have no more problems.

Once inside the smoker you can't see the temperature because of the heat and the smoke. The glass becomes dark and you have wipe clean before you can see.Published 1 day ago by srcarey
Works ok, needle is red, but since I use it in my smoker it gets pretty dark. I made the mistake of spraying it with a little degreaser which went in behind the glass. Read morePublished 4 days ago by Orona Construction
Helpful with a stove that is too old to heat to what I set it for, this tells me what the temp really is in there.Published 12 days ago by Jaime
