I sent Celox granules to my outdoorsman son along with an Israeli pressure dressing. While camped on a backpacking trip, one of his group experienced severe bleeding when he was chopping wood and hit himself in the shin with a backpacking axe. The Celox granules among with the Israeli dressing stopped the bleeding and enabled the injured person to walk himself out with a partner and seek treatment at an emergency room.
From the ER the story is that the ER personnel were extremely impressed with the first aid and said that under the circumstances the injured person would have "bled out" without the excellent treatment. The Celox literally "saved his life."

What kind of thanks can you say when a friends life is saved! I just sent him more.

Used Twice So Far

I have had occasion to use Celox twice so far. The first time my wife had sliced her hand open. She was bleeding profusely and I poured Celox in the cut and the bleeding stopped within seconds. The second occasion was when my small dog was caught in door that the wind has blown shut. My dog was laid open and would have bled out within minutes. I poured a large pack of Celox in her and closed her up and drove an hour to the animal hospital. The Vet said that the Celox saved her life.

I had a heart attack a year ago and was put on a blood thinner and a platelet reducer. I swear, if the wind blows hard enough, I'll bleed. I knew that with the amount of outdoor activities that I do, if I ever had a a large enough scrape, I'd be in trouble. So, I bought 3-pack of these and hoped I'd never have to use them.

Last night I went for a bike ride, had to make a sudden stop, and was unable to unclip one of my shoes from the pedal in time. Over I went, getting a scrape on my upper shin about 3x3 inches. I had a large gauze pad in my med bag, but hadn't yet put a Celox packet in the bag, so I had to pedal home with a gusher on my leg (looked pretty terrible!). After I showered and cleaned the wound, I patted it dry and then followed the directions on the packet: 1) rip it open, 2) sprinkle over wound, 3) APPLY CONSTANT PRESSURE FOR 5 MINUTES. Perhaps this is where others have gone wrong. You need to sprinkle the powder on and then cover and apply pressure. I know people complain that these packets are small, but I only needed to use 1/2 of one to cover a 3x3 inch area. Anyways, it did the trick, and it didn't even sting! I then put a large Tefla pad over it and it never soaked through.

The next morning I showered, expecting the "scab" to wash off, but it didn't. I dabbed the "scab" and applied a new Tefla pad and went about my day.

I'm interested to find out what will happen over the next few days, but so far I'm extremely pleased.

Small packets for every day carry or First Aid Kits

Very small Packet that fits in any IFAK or Vehicle First Aid Kit or any kit, purchased from Amazon directly on Sept. 12th 2018 and got a new batch that expires on August 2021 I've used Celox Granules before and they work fast and are very effective at clotting minor to moderate bleeding. (WARNING: this is not for Severe Arterial bleeding Celox sells a similar product but is specifically for Severe Arterial bleeding) this is only for non life threatening injuries that just need help getting to stop. Overall great product!

Good size packaging, another item added to my first aid kit

This item was purchased to be put into a partially bought, partially built first aid kit. The first aid kit was designed to be kept in my car trunk and components added to the kit like these packages of Celox were added to for more serious injuries seen in bad car accidents. Specifically, parts are added for more serious trauma in the hope of stabilizing people injured long enough to get them to a hospital and surgery. These added parts include a CAT tourniquet, SAM splint and Celox among other things.

PROS
-Compared to other major clotting agents on the market, Celox doesn't undergo an exothermic chemical reaction during the clotting process (burn the people you are trying to help!)
-These three packs are cheaper than the larger 25 gram packages. This helps because it is more affordable to replace older packages more often and it I would be far more likely to rip a 2 gram pack open for a less serious bleeding injury than its larger cousin
-The smaller packages fit into my first aid kit very well
-Used and trusted by many branches of our armed forces

Cons
-The prices per gram for these smaller 2 gram packages is greater than for the 25 gram packs
-after receiving the item, 6 grams may not be enough for more serious, deeper bleed and I may look at getting another 6 grams to bring me up to a good 12 gram total

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the packaging. Seems durable and Youtube videos and personal anecdotes of others convinced me of its effectiveness. 5/5 stars.

I am in the process of upgrading some of my first aid kits and I added these to my smallest kit. The 2 g packets are small so they will fit in any size kit. So many people seem to be on some type of blood thinners these days making even small wounds bleed a lot making this a worth while addition to my first aid kit.
