I was not happy with it , do not think it is organic , I will not order this again
Chia seeds have many reported benefits, but at the heart of it the basic nutritional make up for one ounce is (roughly and based random internet searching--I'm sure some varieties have other contents):
1. 137 calories
2. 9 grams of fat
3. and is a source of both omega-3 (4915 mg) and omega-6 (1620 mg) fatty acids
4. 12 grams of carbs of which 11 grams are fiber
5. 4 grams of protein
6. provide 18% of the 'recommended' daily calcium requirements
Plus a few other things.
Basically, as a seed, the old 'ch-ch-ch-chia' seed is pretty nutritionally beneficial.
Online you can find many uses, recipes and methods of adding chia seeds to your diet...
What you won't find on this particular product--which by the way ships with a somewhat different label than what is pictured--is much information other than the product name and the website of the seller.
One can go to the website and view the 'organic certificates', but honestly I have no way to identify if this product is really falling under the certificates...and it would also be nice if the basic nutrition label were actually on the product as well.
All-in-all the product seems sound--clean seeds, no debris and the weight was accurate. However, the packaging does not seem consistent--and whether that is because it is a smaller company re-packaging from bulk, or something different I have no idea. Bigger companies live up to their reputations (or not), but that type of thing comes with a price tag.
My recommendation is to check out the website and if you feel it suits you then order from Amazon--the pricing was a tad better!Read more ›
so here we go why not he bike rides all day and is super active
that's a great recommendation and I been working out too so it helps in my smoothies and work out shakes
Prior to this discovery I couldn't have juice in the morning b/c it had too much natural sugar and it spiked my blood sugar too high and made me feel nauseous. I now can put one or two tablespoons in my juice or smoothie and it NEVER makes my body feel like it's just had that much sugar AND IT KEEPS ME FULL off of a glass of juice and 2 tbsp of seeds!?!
Sometimes I toast up an english muffin and put a 1/2 tbsp on there with some cream cheese and it makes it feel like an extra crunch / toasty eng. muffin! Soooo good and good for you and so worth a try!

As far as Chia seeds go, they are reasonably priced and contain all the health benefits. My reason for the "4" is that there is no nutritional information, and that is important... Read morePublished on August 4, 2012 by Scrapper
