The Raw Food World selling one pound bag of certified organic Chia Seeds.

Chia seeds have many reported benefits, but at the heart of it the basic nutritional make up for one ounce is (roughly and based random internet searching--I'm sure some varieties have other contents):

1. 137 calories
2. 9 grams of fat
3. and is a source of both omega-3 (4915 mg) and omega-6 (1620 mg) fatty acids
4. 12 grams of carbs of which 11 grams are fiber
5. 4 grams of protein
6. provide 18% of the 'recommended' daily calcium requirements

Plus a few other things.

Basically, as a seed, the old 'ch-ch-ch-chia' seed is pretty nutritionally beneficial.

Online you can find many uses, recipes and methods of adding chia seeds to your diet...

What you won't find on this particular product--which by the way ships with a somewhat different label than what is pictured--is much information other than the product name and the website of the seller.

One can go to the website and view the 'organic certificates', but honestly I have no way to identify if this product is really falling under the certificates...and it would also be nice if the basic nutrition label were actually on the product as well.

All-in-all the product seems sound--clean seeds, no debris and the weight was accurate. However, the packaging does not seem consistent--and whether that is because it is a smaller company re-packaging from bulk, or something different I have no idea. Bigger companies live up to their reputations (or not), but that type of thing comes with a price tag.

My recommendation is to check out the website and if you feel it suits you then order from Amazon--the pricing was a tad better!

I eat chia seeds in oatmeal every morning, so it's nice to find a product that is organic and not as expensive as the store prices. I like being able to buy these in a larger package size than is currently available locally.

I bought these months ago and still have some left. A little of these seeds goes a long way. I usually put a tbs in some water for a few hours then drink it will a splash of lemon. I noticed it is like eating a meal since I'm not as hungry afterwards and I feel energized. I typically have a lot of energy as it is and am very active but these seem to add to it.

Great product, but why did it go from $7.95 in Dec. to $9.95 last month to $14.95 this month? I switched to another brand.

A friend told me about these chia seeds and at first I was skeptical b/c she said it kept her full and regulated her blood sugar making her not crave sweets. I thought it might be BS but I decided to give it a shot. She was sooo right! I never get full off of protein bars or shakes even if they say they are loaded with protein, I always need MEAT to keep me full! I added two tablespoons of chia seeds to my juice (kind of reminds me of strawberry or blackberry seads once swollen) and I stayed full for FOUR hours one time! Most of the time it lasts about 2 hours but if I keep busy it lasts close to 4 hours! I couldn't believe it! I eat them everyday now in some way! They are so good for you b/c of the omegas in them but more than anything I eat them b/c they keep me full and regulate my blood sugar.

Prior to this discovery I couldn't have juice in the morning b/c it had too much natural sugar and it spiked my blood sugar too high and made me feel nauseous. I now can put one or two tablespoons in my juice or smoothie and it NEVER makes my body feel like it's just had that much sugar AND IT KEEPS ME FULL off of a glass of juice and 2 tbsp of seeds!?!

Sometimes I toast up an english muffin and put a 1/2 tbsp on there with some cream cheese and it makes it feel like an extra crunch / toasty eng. muffin! Soooo good and good for you and so worth a try!

I'm a fan of chia seeds as they provide healthy fat and fiber to a diet. Make sure you soak them or grind them so your body can get the most out of this power food. I add it to my red kale, almond milk, vanilla whey protein, and frozen blueberry smoothie as an added kick to my power drink. I also add it to my daughter's special allergy-free cookies.
