The perfect solution for my KNA NG-1 pickup

I have a nylon string guitar and purchased the KNA NG-1 acoustic bridge pickup so that I might enjoy playing it through an amplifier. Nothing heavy duty, not for gigs, busking or church service - just for some fun. The 1/8" male to 1/4" male cable the pickup comes packaged with is sturdy and fairly long BUT it has to be repeatedly removed and reinserted into the pickup unless I want to keep the cable plugged in, rolled up and somehow tied off on my guitar. I felt that it might eventually weaken or damage the pickup, not to mention look goofy as well.

So, I purchased this 10" 1/8" male to 1/4" female adapter and adapted it so that I could leave it inserted, keep it anchored to the guitar so as to not put strain on the pickup but still easily remove or replace it if necessary AND, as a bonus use the common 1/4" male to 1/4" male guitar cord. Please see my review of the KNA NG-1 acoustic pickup for photos and details on how I adapted it.

The 1/8" pin on this 10" cable inserts into the pickup easily and with a positive click. The connection is very good, no static, no b-r-r-r-u-p-p-p-p-s if or when moved about. This is an easy, inexpensive solution that should prolong the life of my guitar's bridge pickup and make using it with an amplifier an easy exercise.

Major weakness in design

The female 1/4" portion does not secure the male plug well at all. Just the slightest nudge and it falls out. I have a piezo pickup on my guitar with an 1/8" connection, so I need to get from that to a standard 1/4" guitar cord. The piezo pickup has a firm grip on the 1/8" plug, but any kind of movement of the guitar cord end, and the plug slides right out. Most good quality guitar cords are fairly substantial, so this is a guaranteed disaster. If I use it in live performance, I will have to use black electrical tape to firmly bind the 1/4" connection before I would DARE use it onstage.

I bought this connector for use with an microphone that has a 6.35mm male plug. The mic. plug was very loose in the connection and I was lucky it worked good enough for the event I needed it for. I used a piece of tape to ensure they connection stayed together but it sure is not a good fit and or something you want to worry about. RETURNING ITEM

I purchase this for a 25-year old David Clark headset to be used with a ham radio transceiver. They worked great. The transceiver has a mono sound output as did the headset plug. I got sound to both ears and it was clear and at the right volume. If you have a similar situation, I recommend them.

This is surprisingly well made. The cable itself is better than average and the jacks also seem well made. The gold plating is uniform and makes excellent contact with no scratchy noise when inserted or moved around.

My purpose is for monoaural (mono) listening with voice referenced headphones with 1/4" mono jack. I will be ordering a back-up, just in case.

60% chance of working product

I purchased 5 of these. One had static on it and another the female quarter inch would not snap in. If you consider I purchased 5 of them and only 3 actually work, you have a 60% chance of getting a functioning product. My recommendation would be to spend a little more on a higher quality part.

This is the second product from CGTime that I have bought that is just absolutely useless out of the packaging.
