I really like this charger. It stops charging when my batteries are at 100%, which helps prevent damage or overcharges. The wire insulation is thick and appears to provide plenty of protection as well. I never noticed the wires getting hot, nor did the charger get hot. It sounds like there is a powerful fan in the charger and there are vents to help keep it cool.

In my video review, I show it being used to charge my Marine batteries at 2, 6 and 12 amps (although I'll also be using it for my vehicle's batteries as well). I like leaving it on 2 amps to trickle charge when I'm in no hurry. It's a very solid and easy smart charger to operate. If you've used a battery charger before, you won't even need the instructions most likely.

I like that it automatically stops charging when the battery is at 100% capacity. This means I can leave it attached and not have to worry about it. It also has an "anti polarity" LED which will light up to warn you and also not allow charging until the wires are correct. The anti-arching technology is nice as well.

I'll continue to use this throughout the summer on a weekly basis for my Marine needs. Should anything change, I'll be sure to update this review.

This is strictly a battery charger, so if you want a jump starter, this is a product to consider - Clore JNC300XL 'Jump-N-Carry' 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light. I own this jump starter and it has saved me a couple of times already. With that said, this is a very versatile battery charger for several types of batteries.

There are three battery types and amperage settings from which you can choose: Standard, GSM and Gel batteries. Charge rate selectable: 2,4 and 6 Amperes. You can monitor the battery voltage or percent charged via a 3 digit display. It has reverse polarity detection.

There is no on-off switch on this charger and it really isn't very necessary either. You are supposed to connect the charger leads to the battery before plugging it into your AC power. There is a Go button you must press to begin the charging process. But first you should set the battery type and charge rate before you press the Go button.

Even if you press the Go button, it might not actually start charging the battery. I had two GSM batteries I pulled out of a UPS battery backup unit and they were both depleted to almost zero volts. On one battery, the charger did nothing after I pressed the Go button. On the other battery, the charge light came on but after one or two seconds, the charge light turned off. So this charger won't even try to trickle charge or bring a relatively dead battery back to life. This is a trickle charger to maintain batteries. It is NOT a jump starter. You need to plug this into an outlet in order to use it. The cord is not very long, probably less than 5 feet. I used this outdoors to charge my 2005 Toyota Corolla and had to plug it into an extension cord. You should not charge the batteries inside without ventilation as gases could come out of the battery and a small spark could cause a fire.

My Corolla had not been driven in over a month and when I plugged this in, it said my battery was at 75%. It took a little under 6 hours to get a full 100% charge under the "standard 12V, 6 Ampere" setting.

It's pretty simple to use. You just select the type of battery you have and the correct voltage, plus whether you want a faster charge at 6amp, or slower at 2amp, and hit go. You can pause the charging anytime by hitting the "go" button. The fan will still spin even when paused. If you connect the polarity wrong, it will not charge and an error light comes on. Red to red, black to black. It cannot get easier than that.

It's not too bad and having one of these around is a lot cheaper then replacing a battery. It has multiple settings and can charge small 6V batteries and 12V batteries.

The device is a little noisy because of the built in fan. However, you will probably be using this outdoors so you probably wont even hear it. It's small and compact and easy to store because all the cords wrap behind the unit. It is also very light.

I would highly recommend getting one of these to maintain all your batteries.

First, I didn't purchase this from Amazon - NAPA had them on sale for $29 in Dec/2013. I am posting this review because nobody else has.

I needed something to maintain the batteries in my vehicles, couldn't decide on a larger charger so I bought this to hold me over. Turns out I like it a lot, it is not going to fast charge your battery, it can't start a dead battery but it does charge/maintain regular batteries, AGM's and Gel Cells.

Neither of our vehicles are driven far enough daily to maintain a full charge on the batteries and when your battery gets low it makes your alternator work harder, which isn't a good thing - those babies are expensive these days.

I've been hooking this up once a week to each of our vehicles, takes a couple hours per battery and keeps them at full charge.

Its not overly complicated, it is very quite, especially compared to old chargers, its small and works good. I didn't expect much but am pleasantly surprised at how much I like it.
