My 3 year old PWR+ supply suddenly stopped charging my Alienware laptop, and the most probable reason is a BIOS update that got better at detecting third party chargers. Seller was surprised my old 90W supply hadn't burned up driving a laptop that comes with a 240W AC supply, and suggested trying this new model.
Dell will tell you only THEIR chargers can work, and they'll charge you 4x what this one costs for a charger of the same capacity as this one, and then they'll tell you a power hog like an Alienware laptop cannot run on 90W so you can't run your laptop off 12V. All of that is wrong.
This one DOES work, and if you check in BIOS the laptop correctly identifies it as a 90W charger. It will charge slowly while I use it in high power mode, or more quickly if it's powered down. The laptop is smart enough to cut back on current if it sees the voltage dropping.
So look at the photo and decide which one you'd rather travel with. Dell on the left, PWR+ on the right. Don't forget the big Dell supply also requires a an even bigger power-wasting inverter to run off 12V.

Pretty happy with this. My laptop is completely happy getting power and charging its battery from it. It's actually more compact than I anticipated (expecting it to be more like a normal laptop brick from the photo - see my photo comparing it to a mouse) Unlike the product photo mine has a Y-cord on the laptop end with two different kinds of plugs (only one of which will fit your given laptop) - see my photo, The extra is slightly annoying, but doesn't impact it from getting the job done in any way.
