About the Author
The author's books are always about making the lives of children, and their families, happy, interesting, satisfying, and geared to the stage of development of each child. Her experience in this area is broad and international. In 1963-1964 Susan Mayclin Stephenson spent four months aboard the first university on shipboard traveling around the world and studying the cultures of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. This awakened a life-long interest in cultures of the world, specifically concerning the education of children from birth on. She has degrees in philosophy and education, three AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) diplomas: 0-3 years, 2.5-3 years, and 6-12 years, and over 40 years of teaching experience. In 2001 Susan took a course on Multiple, from Dr. Howard Gardner, at Harvard, University to help her understand the variety of learning styles she had seen catered to in Montessori classes. Susan has traveled in over 60 countries and often shares these experiences in oil paintings. She has taught ages 2-17, worked with parents and teachers, consulted with schools, and served as an examiner on Montessori training courses. This book opened a new field of exploration and joy for me and my two daughters!
Her grandfather walked by and said you still playing chess, Jazz 'Yes, and we are both winning". The game went on for a half an hour.
Thank you Susan for the enjoyment of playing.
