I've had this straightener for about 4 years, and it finally died today. Believe me, it got put through its paces. Chi products are very dependable; everyone I know who uses this brand straightener is satisfied. I hear that the first use is the real test--if it works, it will work for a while; if it doesn't work the first time, return it immediately. The Turbo has variable temperature settings. If you can think of a good reason for variable temperature changes, get it. If you're like me, and are planning on maxing it out every time, you might as well get the less expensive, single temperature Chi. Otherwise, I am quite pleased with this iron. What ultimately killed it was a faulty converter when I was travelling in Europe--it hasn't been the same since I got back. Clearly, this isn't really the fault of the Chi. Chi gives consistent results, creating glossy straight hair that lasts pretty well in humidity without extra product. I would highly recommend!

I've used Chi flatirons for about five years now and have never been disappointed. This one heats up quickly, is wide enough for longer hair, and stays hot.

I always but the CHI. It's great for my thick curly hair. It heats up to 400F. It doesn't take me long to straighten my hair with this and it is also not as bad for your hair as the cheap products are. Just wish these were a little more cheaper.

At first this product worked great. I loved the digital temperature feature. It broke after 15 months. It is not worth the money. I only used it 1 to 3 times a week. It was unable to hold a temperature one day. I replaced it with a cheap one, but at least it holds its temperature.

She uses it very frequently and seems to love it. She has wildly curly hair, and the chi definitely calms the curls!

I had this exact same straightener for almost 2 years and absoultely loved it until I was on my honeymoon and the plates literally melted off. I was so disappointed because I was in LOVE with my Chi straightener. That being said, I replaced it with this one (which is the exact same model as the first one I had) and it doesn't work as well. It doesn't get as hot as the other one did and I am having to use two straighteners on my hair just to keep it straight. Not as impressed with the second Chi....maybe it's a fake?

After my girlfriend casually mentioned needing a hair straightener on numerous occasions, I finally decided to pull the trigger and just get her one. I did what most men would do and referred immediately to the reviews of said straighteners. After a good bit of research I settled on the "Remington S-8400 2 1/4" TStudio Tourmaline Ceramic Straightener." Reviews for this straightener were awesome, plus it was roughly $60 less than the Chi. Not having any experience with these things, I assumed this was good enough. I think most men would be with me on this equation: we read that other people liked it + it isn't unnecessarily expensive = it would make her happy, thus scoring me points. What a fool....

After informing my gf of the purchase, she gave me the "Oh that was so nice of you." Those of us perceptive enough to pick up on this know that really means "You should have had me with you/consulted me before making this purchase." After a thorough explanation that informed me that by paying 3 times as much for a brand I'd never heard of (Remington made a sweet face razor I used for like 6 years), I would be virtually guaranteeing the straightener to work FOREVER and she'll never have to buy one again.

I bought the CHI, completely ignoring my rational/logical instincts. After we received it, she was overjoyed mentioning time and again how well it worked. The straightener worked great (she has medium thickness hair, not real curly) for 3 and 1/2 weeks. Then, it just stopped working, all together. No lights, no heat, no straightener, no money back. After just explaining to her that I was writing this review, she said, "Oh yeah, i really need a new one. I found a good price on the same one online the other day." I nearly lost it. DO NOT BUY - OVERPRICED JUNK.
