Increase Rear Visibility When Towing
Towing incidents involving loads wider than your pulling vehicle are common in work and moving scenarios, as well as during recreational activities like trailer-based camping and the hauling of off-road vehicles and watercraft. Regardless of when these events occur the common problem is that they can create significant and potentially dangerous challenges to drivers' rear field of view. For over 20 years CIPA Custom Tow Mirrors have provided the optimal solution to deal with this problem quickly, effectively and inexpensively, no matter the make and model of your vehicle. Augmenting your vehicle's standard OEM rearview mirrors CIPA Custom Tow Mirrors are aerodynamic, sliding snugly over your vehicle's existing rearview side mirror and feature an additional mirror on the outboard end that can be independently adjusted. The result is a new and improved rearview mirror assembly that extends your towing vision, without obstructing your existing vehicle mirror.
Durable Construction and Easy Installation
CIPA Custom Tow Mirrors are made from durable ABS plastic, with the additional outer mirror built into each, constructed of scratch-resistant glass. This rugged construction ensures years of unobstructed towing use that can be counted on in the most demanding of situations. Mirror installation is tool-free and when done correctly and carefully poses no risk of scratching to your vehicle. CIPA Custom Tow Mirrors attach to your vehicle's existing side rearview mirrors using a secure wedge-lock design. Once the Custom Tow Mirror's main section is slid over your vehicle's OEM rearview mirror, the high-strength plastic wedge included for each mirror is placed between them. The wedge is in turn held in place with a threaded knob that passes through the towing mirror to press the wedge against the original mirror with the end of the wedge holding the towing mirror firmly in place. In addition, included neoprene tape pieces are placed on the wedge and also inside of the towing mirror during the first installation. This tape acts as a cushion that protects the vehicle mirror from scratches and damage that could inadvertently be caused during installation of the towing mirror. Together this makes CIPA Custom Tow Mirrors extremely easy to install in seconds by virtually any driver, of any level of experience and the perfect midline priced solution for all your towing needs.

Have tried the mirror mount suction cup type, belt type, wind moves my mirror every time over 35 mph and all failed on my 2010 Toyota Tundra 4.6 V8 6-speed with towhaul package, regular mirrors, ( go figure they do not put the big mirrors on my model but am happy they didn't as it a pain from what I hear/read)
However, I did look up a knock off price of the big mirrors and they went for about $300 a set last I looked.
So I had to find a solution, this was it. Not permanent.
I am happy.
Going on three years now. Used them a lot the first couple yrs. And they have never gave me trouble. As will all big mirrors, this make your mirror blind spot (line of sight) a bit bigger. Just be aware of surrounding as you have to be when towing a trailer.
Wish there was a way to lock them on. But they come off quickly enough.
Three pieces each mirror, threaded knob, extension, and locking bracket. Comes off in 2 pieces as you do not need to remove the knob completely when installing or removing.
Can still fold my mirror to a point which is a nice plus, they rub in spots so make sure no mud is on it or will scratch up on a bumpy trip.
The only con is they don't come with a case and they don't sell one either so get a duffel bag.
2. It's rather flimsy. Does not fit perfectly well - rotates/hangs down on the outside edge.
3. The mechanism to ensure it does not slide off is equally flimsy - when you tighten the stay bar down, it slips out of the alignment groove.
4. It does NOT allow for trucks (like mine - 2013 Toyota Tundra) that have automatic mirror retraction that folds the mirrors in. You CANNOT use this feature while these mirrors are on your truck.
Now - I couldn't return these because I had to have them. Needed them to legally move a trailer. SO...I did modify them:
A. Use a hacksaw and carefully cut the corner out (off the towing mirror - to be clear) where the main mirror connector base is, so that when the mirror folds in, it doesn't hang. Need to cut about 2" x 1.5" off this bottom corner.
B. The stabilizer/stay bar must be connected to the tow mirror. I drilled a hole through the bar and the mirror case about 2" from the outside edge. Make sure that the bar is aligned with the hole for the big bolt that is supposed to hold it all together. Use a flat-head machine bolt, head inside the mirror case, and washier/nut outside. Tighten carefully but not too tight; it's all plastic. Cut the remaining machine bolt off, and then glue a small black cover over the exposed bolt end. This ensures that the stabilizer/stay bar actually stays in place because otherwise it does not.
A couple of notes; I had read reviews where folks had trouble figuring out which wedge goes on which side. Mine are labeled LH/RH on the back side, maybe this is a recent change. I also felt it was obvious (at least to me) which wedge would go on which side as only the correct one will provide a back at an equivalent angle to the mirror back when sliding in. The wrong one doesn't. The only additional tip I could provide is to ensure you slide the mirror onto the wedge all the way (until the mirror & wedge ends are flush), the last inch or so required a bit more force. After they are flush, tighten the set screw as there is a receiving port in the wedge for the screw. I missed this check point the first time and the mirror slide off when I tugged on it.
FYI, my Tundra had chrome mirror caps installed (from previous owner), and these worked over the chrome caps, . . . yay!!! My choice was to stick with the strap-ons, this product, a similar product, or going with the Toyota replacement mirrors. I wanted to try something other than the strap-ons, and at 1/10th the cost of the full replacements, this is an excellent product.
The only reason I knocked off a star for these is that I bought them instead of switching the whole mirrors out for the factory tow ones because my Limited's mirrors fold in electrically and I thought that would be a great feature to have with these long mirrors. Well, unfortunately, they don't fold in with these extensions on because the hinge is blocked by the forward shroud. They could have changed the design slightly and accommodated folding. I don't know if they will fold with manually folding mirrors.
