I am interested in probability for investments and gambling and this book had a good introduction on the subject. There was a lot more on statistics. However, there was enough on probability and the book introduced it simply and in a stragihtforward manner. There are some formating problems however. At times the ebook would freeze and refused to move forward. I had to go to the table of contents and click on another chapter to move forward again. This really annoyed me. Still, the ebook was free and I can't complain too much. Good introductory text on probability and stats at a great price - for free!

I have been using this text for a "Stats for Scientists" and it has been a very good resource. I am not sure this would be useful if you desire to be a Stats Major, but for everyone else it is fine.

This is a fine text book, but the kindle version jumbles the order of all of the questions. Chapter 1 contains about 4 Question #1's. Very frustrating for studying. I've switched to a different version.

I teach high school Statistics and Probability. I was looking at this book as a potential free resource. I really like the simple, readable explanations and the flow of the book. It may be usable on a computer. However, as a Kindle version it is unusable. Most of the graphics are garbled and unreadable. Key concepts are lost because the example graphic is lost. Very disappointing.

Working in the field of Six Sigma and Operations, our daily need to understand advanced statistics is critical to properly determining what direction to take and when. This book is handy to have around to jog the memory or recap on items not used often.

Considering I didn't pay anything for this, I'd say it's worth the time and money. I think it does help to have a basic understanding of stats and probability before reading it, because it doesn't go into too much detail, but as a refresher or to learn a few more things, it's pretty good. There are some formatting issues with a lot of the formulas, but again, if you already have a basic understanding, you could probably still get through them.

This kindle book has as much information regarding beginning probability and statistics as much more involved, and much more expensive, textbooks. Used together with the next in the series, "Probability and Statistics - Basic (A full course)", the serious self-study student will get a lot if knowledge. The only thing that I can say in the negative range is that my copy has the Table of Contents at the end of the book. Why would that be?

Not a connoisseur of stat's texts but am learning quite a bit from book. Do not recommend for Kindle users due to compatibility issues evident in illustrations. Legibility can be nearly impossible. Otherwise, you'll have to work around it as I.
