The classroom I work in celebrates the end of the year with a Harry Potter themed party so I decided to whip up some chocolate frogs for the students. There are a few mold choices here and I chose this one because it was the least expensive at the time and I was on a very tight budget. The frogs came out marvelously and the children loved them. Next year I'll probably purchase a second mold to make the process go faster. It's not quite the frog mold that I'd have preferred (with the bumpy backs) but for what I got it for it was perfect.

I have never made candy before. I bought these for our Harry Potter themed party and they could not have been easier to make. You melt the chocolate, pour it into the mold, place the tray in the freezer for about 10 minutes and pop out the frogs. The frogs came out easily and perfect - there was not even a tiny trace of chocolate left in the mold. I was so pleasantly surprised at how easy these were to make. I even melted the chocolate in the microwave. Super fun and super easy for a kids party. We also made our own Wizard cards to go with each frog. The kids loved it. The frogs were a bit on the large side - about 3 inches by 2 inches (solid chocolate) so this may be a bit too much chocolate for really young kids. Happy cooking!!

I used this to make chocolate frogs for my daughter's birthday party. I made several batches of chocolate frogs with rice crispies. Turned out great. The kids loved them. Following the directions on several candy making websites, I tempered the chocolate, added the crispies, poured into the molds. Tapped the bottom of the molds a few times to release air bubbles and placed in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Once the chocolate took on a dull sheen, I was able to easily turn the mold upside down, and especially in the case of the white chocolate, the chocolate came right out, and even the little pattern on the backs of the frogs showed up. I would highly recommend this product.

The shipping was very fast and the packaging was adequate to protect these plastic molds.

Update: Please heed the warning, these molds are NOT dishwasher safe. Hubby didn't know better and put this mold in the dishwasher. It warped so bad, it was rendered unusable. I am not complaining, because the packaging AND the product description said it was not dishwasher safe. I would still buy this again.

I've now made two batches of filled chocolate with these and the mold released perfectly once the chocolate was completely cooled. The frogs are large enough to hold a decent amount of filling without being so huge that eating one makes you ill. I used peanut butter for the first batch and green marshmallow creme for the second batch, and even though I simply spread the chocolate into the mold with a spoon, which made my chocolate layer thicker than if I'd used a brush, I still managed to get about a teaspoon of filling in each frog. The frogs are nicely sculpted and quite pretty, with a fair amount of attractive detail. I like that they are not cartoon frogs. All in all, I'm very pleased with this mold, and will be buying more molds by the same maker.

Works great, frogs are a bit large. To cut the amount of chocolate in each one, I ended up putting a thin layer in first, then filling the middles with rice krispies or crushed up pretzels (non sugar fillings!) and then filling the rest of the way with chocolate. Made them for a slumber party and actually want the kids to slumber sometime tonight. My daughter is so excited to have chocolate frogs for her Harry Potter party. The detail is great and they are cute and easy to make.

I put the chocolate in a mason jar and then put that in my crock pot with some water in the bottom. This worked great to pour a set out, stick them in the fridge for about 20 minutes to set up and then have the chocolate melted and ready to pour more. Lay down a paper towel first or any over spill will get all over your counter when you remove from the mold, learned that the hard way with little flakes of chocolate all over. Flip the mold onto your paper towel and most will fall right out, a few I had to lightly tap on and they popped out.

I bought this mold because I am a Harry Potter nerd and I really wanted to surprise my other HP nerd friends with chocolate frogs. It was very easy to use and I was pleased with how durable the mold was. If you're going to make a lot of them though, I would recommend buying more than one mold because it does take some time for the chocolate to harden and when you're doing it last minute like I was, it would've been really helpful.
