i found this product doing a search for "edible gold leaf." i decided to purchase after reading rave reviews about food items that were created using it. HOWEVER.. it is clearly marked "NOT to be consumed" and "for decorative use only." so this is a misleading product.

I have used this product multiple times. In fact, I purchased four tubs of the gold and silver luster dust (2 each) five years ago and I am JUST NOW running out! I use this stuff to gild all sorts of things for Renaissance themed banquets - including gilding an entire roast duck and then, using vodka, painting filigree designs onto it! The clients thought it was prop food it looked so beautiful. I can't recommend this stuff enough!

I purchased this luster dust in Nu Silver and couldn't be happier. I used this on decorated royal icing cookies and used the technique where you mix the luster dust with everclear and brush it on the hardened icing. In the little container, the color doesn't look very bright or shiny, but if you use this technique, you'll see super shiny results that look beautiful. If this was any shinier, you'd be able to see your reflection. Great stuff, would definetly recommend.

I was needing some gold to use on cookies I was doing for an engagement party. I needed it rather quickly, so I went to the local Hobby Lobby, etc. They had gold but not the right color gold, yes there are several different gold colors. I didn't have time to run all over time searching for just the right color.
I was very happy to find the Egyptian gold luster dust here on Amazon. It was shipped quickly & 2 days later I had the correct color gold. It is a small container but you only need a very small amount.
I needed to paint the cookies, so I had to use some type of alcohol to mix with the luster dust to make the paint. Water doesn't work! All I had was rum but it left no taste at all. I painted the cookies with 2 coats of the luster dust paint. They turned out beautifully- everyone was pleased.
I was quite happy with the results & how easy the luster dust was to use. When the time comes, I will buy it in other colors.
I know it takes time to write reviews but I depend on them. I write reviews, both good & bad, because I like to read reviews. Normally I will pass on a product with no reviews. For me reviews will make the difference between a purchase or no purchase.

It says on the label not to eat, but it also says non-toxic. I make chocolate confections so i have been using it to decorate my truffles, a little in the bottom of a mold makes my truffles looks beautiful. Haven't got sick off this or anything so it seems fine.

The main problem I have is a very slight metallic taste. No one else seems to notice, but I'm also pretty picky. Its probably just a case of me being my own worst critic.

I haven't tried any other brands of luster dust yet, because you need so little that it lasts a long time. but compared to gold leaf, its FAR easier to work with.

You will need a brush to apply this dust, a small paint brush is sufficient in my experience with this product.

i purchased this item for a cake that called for gold dust, never thought i would find it, but im glad i did. when i sprinkled it on it looked like a shining star. the container is small but it will go a long way. worth buying.

The color was too yellow. I already had other luster dust called "old gold" that I used on top of the Egyptian gold and it came out a very nice color. So, I would buy it again, but only to use underneath the old gold color on white fondant. The photo is of white fondant + Egyptian gold painted on with vodka, then old gold dusted dry on top of almost-dried first coat.
