Product Description

CMATMods Brownie Distortion The Brownie has controls for Gain, Level and Tone. This pedal uses the BSIAB circuit (Officially Licensed). Footprint of a Boss or Ibanez pedal and has a bright blue LED and True Bypass. This distortion pedal sounds like a Marshall on 11. It has great bass and attack response. The Brownie has MILES of sustain and a TON of gain. Pedal is dead quiet with hardly any noise. Many thanks to Ed Guidry for this one! Looking for classic guitar tones? Or that classic EVH tone? The pedal says "Brownie" which has nothing to do with the desert and everything to do with the tone you can achieve using it.
A friend of mine who has 15 different boutique distortion and overdrive pedals along with 6 or 7 different boutique amps told me that if had to give all but 1 of his pedals up this would be the one that he would keep. So I bought one for myself and am very happy I did. You can get a lot of tones with this pedal and a lot that go beyond classic rock, just crank the gain up! Also has tone and level knobs which give great control and many possibilities!

This is a really good pedal and I was surprised at it's flexibility. It does the EVH "brown sound" really well with humbuckers at full gain. But I was surprised at how good it can sound at lower gain levels. It's able to give a nice amount of crunch with a less "sludgy" sound than I find from some of the medium gain pedals when they're cranked up. Individual notes shine through with greater clarity. This will definitely be finding a permanent place on my board and I'm glad I discovered both it and CMATmods.

UPDATE: Having lived with this pedal for nearly a year now I've grown to like it more and more. It does everything from the EVH "brown" sound with modern humbuckers to a perfect early Tony Iommi with a Gibson SG Classic. I find newly acquired pedals often lose their place on my board after the initial "honeymoon" period -- but this one has a permanent place. No regrets at all.

I play through a "Marshall" 50 w half stack when I need more wattage; I have my compliment of analog effect foot pedals to edify my sound and when I'm going to cover "EddieV" material, this soups up my rig to allow me so. Excellent "brown sound" pedal.

I admit I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my Brownie, but it has already impressed me more than my previous favorite Marshall Plexi-flavored pedal, the Carl Martin Plexitone. I play through a clean Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue, and the Brownie seems to have more body and girth than the Plexitone, and a more usable EQ and gain range. I could not stop playing it when I first plugged it in!!! Very touch-sensitive, and has that wonderful "chirp" to your pick attack and complex overtones like a cranked Marshall would. Seriously killer pedal.

A good friend of mine handed me this pedal and said give it a try. My initial impressions of this pedal reminded me of the the old Marshall Blues Breaker in a sense. It has a lot of throttle to it on the gain. I personally don't run the gain very high on it. I use it added with a boost pedal, delay and compression. I'll throw my telecaster on the neck position and it makes for fantastic glassy blues tones. The tone pot is excellent. With a little tweaking you can add or back off the tone to match the natural tone of your amp. This pedal does a great job of not messing with your tone. All in all great pedal just a little pricey, but good things don't come cheap.

After playing with all these distortion pedals
Riot Distortion / AMT California / Proco Rat / Xotic BB Preamp

I can say that this Brownie is the Distortion pedal u should get ...NO Noise and has Clear Distortion not like others who have lots of Volume but no real good distortion this one is the one your looking for ...Trust me (for more headroom use a 18v plug (or get the ISO Pump from Godlyke or Xotic effects)
