Good Product, Not So Good Shipping

When I took this 100-CD container out of the shipping box, I found that two of the four base tabs securing the cover were broken off. I also noted that the shipping box was a bit too small for the product, which may have resulted in the broken base tabs. Worse yet, the spindle running up through the CD blanks was broken off at the base, meaning the CDs were not secured when the cover was removed. Finally, two felt securing washers were merely laying on top of the topmost CD, rather than on the spindle where I would expect them. Fortunately I had a base and cover from a previous purchase, and I transferred the CDs to that. The CDs themselves seem undamaged, and I burned one with success. So a potential disaster of CDs flying out all over the floor was avoided.
Note: this review asks to rate "print quality", but this is a package of 100 CD-blanks, not a printer. I gave this 5 stars because the product itself is fine.

Genuine TY/JVC Media For Special Applications

There are reports online of counterfeit Taiyo Yuden/JVC media, though not as many as there used to be when more people used writable optical discs, but these are the real ones. For most uses, you honestly don't need to pay the premium you do for these discs--so what if a few discs out of the $10 spindle you bought were bad, they were a few cents each! Most modern optical drives are great at reliably reading/writing to sub-par media and I've yet to have a disc "go bad" simply from age, regardless of the cost.

But if you've got an older optical drive--like the CD player in my 90s Volvo--the media you use can certainly make a huge difference. For older/finicky drives you can't do any better than these CDRs, they're the most easily read discs I've found. They're markedly thicker than the cheap generic CDRs you can find at the big box store and they're an entirely different color due to the higher quality dye used in the data layer.

Like I said, honestly for most use cases you're not going to need these discs, they're overkill. But for those old drives that throw a fit over anything recordable you can't do any better.

The best quality CD-R discs for the price

I love this brand of discs. I discovered them after searching for better quality discs for making home-made mix CDs and so many pages on the internet specifically recommended this brand. I've bought several cases of these discs over the past year and have not had even one "coaster" in any package. I really like the smooth white surface that lets you write on them easily with pen or marker (I have not tried printing any graphics on them) and the discs are playable multiple times without any notice of degradation over time (unlike other brands). The only drawback I can think of about these is that they don't sell them in stores so that I have to buy them online. Also the plastic spindle case that they come in is crappy quality and the lid won't stay secured so don't pick up the case by just gripping the lid. I saved some spindle cases from others brands of CDs and simple refill the empty cases with these discs whenever I buy more.

Data Surface Write Pattern Is Vivid

I bought these CMC Pro's after returning Maxell Music CDRs which I had used in the past. Maxell had changed their dye formulation. These CMC's use a dye that enables the user to see a vivid write pattern once you burn a CD. So far so good; no complaints with these.

I thought CDs were all the same until I tried these. I'm seriously considering going back and reburning everything I had on crappy Imation CDs on these instead. It's so much easier for the laser to read these. I actually had to copy a retail CD on to one of these discs because my drive has an easier time reading these discs than the one made in the factory (granted it's a 20 year old disc). Taiyo Yuden is no joke, and if you're doing a sensitive burning operation for older hardware, these will put a smile on your face, and keep your laser from needing glasses.
