I'm making pinhole plates for pinhole cameras, so I'm mostly interested in the smallest bits. I also need them to be accurate because a difference of something like 0.001" or 0.01mm is enough to make a difference in image sharpness with precision-drilled pinholes in many cases.
I put the smallest bit in a good solid micrometer outer caliper I have and it read exactly 0.013" as advertised. Note that these tiny ones are TINY. To give you some idea, the thinnest manual sewing needle I could find was wider than 0.02"/0.5mm. The smallest bit (0.013"/0.33mm) in this set is about the diameter of an acupuncture needle except that it has burrs to drill with. To handle these I use some sharp pointed tweezers with a locking collar of the sort that jewelers use to hold gemstones for inspection. I'm pretty good with my hands but it's difficult to dump out the little tube of the thinnest size bits and pick one bit out of it without dumping some of them.
SO NOTE: the metric conversions given for the drill bit sizes appear to be inaccurate or maybe I should just say wrong. 0.013" is actually more like 0.33mm, and my micrometer read 0.013". So it would seem that the accurate numbers listed are the English units, not the metric ones. Therefore refer to the English numbers given and convert them to metric manually if you want to know the real diameters in mm.
It's difficult if not impossible to get the really small bits perfectly centered in the pin vise, though using tweezers helps. I haven't really used a little pin vise like this before so I can't really say if this is typical, at least in this price range, or not.Read more ›
I build model rockets that really fly. I needed to drill small holes for nylon screws.
The service and delivery was way above the grade. I'd order from this company always.
This is a little metal tool that holds tiny drill bits and has a rotating end so you can delicately drill small holes by applying downward pressure and turning the body of the tool. Another cool use is to put a sewing needle into the collet (bit holder) and use it to scribe panel lines into the plastic for detail or to apply thin super glue with precision. I'm told you can us it to drill out the tiny barrels of canons on planes, too for more realism.
If you work with small parts, or need precise detail work, this is a good tool. It comes with a lot of bits and two collets (the alternate stores in the body of the tool. All of it is packaged in a reusable, clear cylinder. Nice!
When I initially inspected this item I could not find the second collet and so I sent an email inquiring about that and I was promptly contacted both by phone and email where they indicated there are two sections which unscrew and the second collet was in the upper section just underneath the swivel and their email included a picture (see attached photo) with directions!! :-)
Nowadays it is almost impossible to get human service of any type whatsoever but CML has simply excellent customer service on top of great products!
Cannot thank or recommend them enough and I know where I will look first for any similar needs in the future!
Thank you CML Supply, you are definitely doing it right!!

This is my second pin drill as I lost my first one in a move. This one has way more bits then my other and works well with making holes in plastic and wood. Read morePublished 1 month ago by SgtHawker
I was going to opt for something pricier in a handle and drill bits. And I'm glad I didn't. This does everything I need to do in my N scale model railroading. Read morePublished 1 month ago by BobZoom

Great little set! Useful in so many ways. Kinda wish there was some way to identify which drill bit was which, as some of the diameters are too small to infer by naked eye (ie:... Read morePublished 2 months ago by Eric
Seems pretty solid. They include a ton of bits. I'd say the price/performance ratio is very desirable on this set. Quality company.Published 2 months ago by Lucas Nelson
