The best topcoat for lasting polish

I have tried just about every topcoat and this is the best by far for getting nail polish to stay longer. I have found it works well with most nail polish brands, not just Vinylux.

How to: clean and prep nails, apply base coat (I use OPI), apply 2 coats nail polish, allow to mostly dry, apply 1-2 coats vinylux. Reapply every couple days to help mani or pedi last. I can usually get polish to last for 6-8 days with this when nails are well prepared.

It's also very shiny, which makes nails look extra beautiful!

I have been doing my own manicures for years and I typically used “Out the door” brand top coat but recently I was recommended to CND Vinylux and so far I LOVE IT way more than my previous brand!! I applied CND Vinylux six days ago and I currently have Invisalign trays in my mouth that I have to pop out every time I eat or drink hot items and that can be pretty rough on my nails and has caused chipping before. After 6 days with this top coat I only have two tiny chips. I am more than satisfied with the strength of this polish! 👍🏻👍🏻

Doesn't Work!

I have tried this top coat about 4 times and it just isn't producing the results that the reviews indicate. I used a base coat, 2 coats of Opi nail polish and two coats of this top coat. When applying the top coat I focused heavily on the ends of the nail because that is where it seems to chip first. The first picture is less than 24 hours. You see it starting to chip in the side. The second picture is day 2 but not even 48 hours. Day 2 is 7:00 am. Many of the reviewers claim it works with off brand nail polish. Didn't work for me. If anyone has a top coat that works and is easy to get off, let me know! It is frustrating spending and 1 and half hours doing your nails for very little wear time.

This top coat is legit. I recently mentioned to an acquaintance that I have to do my nails every other day because my nail polish does not stay on. She told me to try CND Vinylux Top Coat and polish. I gave it a whirl and I'm glad I did. This top coat is the best I've seen and I've bought many. It works best with the CND nail polish but you can also use your own. It stays on for at least four days with minimal touch ups. Since I get bored with my nail polish quickly, changing it every four days is fine with me. I was doing every other and most times that was with a big touch up. This top coat seems to dry quickly so I also have no more smudges. I will never use a different top coat again. A tip I read is to wrap the top coat all the way around the tip of your nail when applying to reduce chipping at the tips.

This is my all-time favorite top coat, and it took me a good 2 years to find it. The polish on my toes will last 3-4 weeks before it starts to look a little rough on the edges. The polish on my finger nails will last a full week before it starts to chip. It doesn't matter the brand of polish I use underneath (Zoya, China Glaze, OPI, a variety of indies, etc), this is the top coat that I use if I need a manicure to last at least a week (like when I'm on vacation).

The downsides are that it does take some time to dry, which I'm ok with (I'll use something else if I need a quick-drying top coat), and it's not available locally and I have to buy it online.

In my lifelong quest for the perfect nail polish, one that would dry fast, dry hard, not chip, not peel, self-level, last a long time and with multiple coats produce a shield as tough as acrylics, I've actually found a few. Wet Glaze by Proteinnail (discontinued) Revlon's Acrylic Nail Shield (ditto) and to a lesser degree another discontinued Revlon product called "Nail Thick". Since then I've tried every brand going and now - CND Vinylux. Tho it in no way meets all the above hopes, it lasts longer than most polishes - if not all of 10 days, then most of them - gives a thick, substantive gel-like look to my nails (though mine still peel and chip at the tips) and does not seem to do them any harm. But the final manicure, even after it cures and hardens, is still too soft for my nails to regain their former length. So while CND seems a decent product and has its virtues, I'm still searching…

The delivery of this was really quick, received it in 2 weeks even though it was expected in 4 weeks from the date of my order.
So far it's been really good no chipping, I just find that at the very tips of my nails, I loose some polish but that is bound to happen with typing, doing housework etc.
I find that my polish can last up to a week with no chips, but the shine of the top coat doesn't last as long - It's really shiny for the first few days - Hence the 4 out of 5 star rating.
The picture shows my nails after 5 days.
You'll see what I mean about the very tips of my nails loosing some polish.
