This sketchbook is suitable for dry media ,like oil pastel,color pencil ,gel pen etc.

Most of the sketch books tore easily at the rings, bled easily, and loosened rings. Can I trust this product?

Yes so far I haven't seen that it comes loose from the ring

Is this paper good for colored pencils?

The paper quality is good. I used two of these to make a book for my grandchildren when they graduated from high school. The messages were in pen, but, I can see that they would have taken pencils too.

Very thin non white paper

The reason for my purchase on this was for downloading color page pdf files on to this paper. What I neglected to think about is that once you tear out the paper, it is no longer 8.5x11. You lose a little over 1/2 inch of paper. The paper then is only about 7.5x11. I was disappointed but I can make it work if I place it in the paper tray correctly. This is not by any means the distributors issue, it was the user's not thinking a head. As for the rest of the book. I really like it, the outside covers are heavy duty and the the binder rings are steel so they are strong. The perforation on the pages is very good when you gently tear them out. I fold them over at the perforation so they come out very easy. As for the paper, it is very thin and a light cream color. It has a fine texture to it so it is not smooth and I actually like that for my use. I tried colored pencils, gel pens and sharpie ultra fine line markers. The gel pens show thru but do not bleed, the sharpies and other markers definitely will bleed thru. Colored pencils and gel pens are probably best suited for this type of paper. I think flooding with markers, like Prisma, Copic. This is just my sampling and opinion of usage for this paper. For me the gel pens, pencils and ultra fine sharpies will work for me. All in all after getting past the fact that I blew it by not thinking about the size after paper removal, I like the book. I did think a head while ordering this book, I ordered a ream of heavy copy paper 8.5x11 which I know will work in my printer. I gave it 4 stars because it was my error and the paper was not white. Hope this helps someone looking at sketch books

Thicker toothy paper

This paper is Ivory in color and has a more texture and thickness than Strathmore 200 series paper for example. I've tested a variety of pens, ball point, gel, markers and colored pencils too. These pages are a bit transparent as the artwork from the page shows through more than the Strathmore 200 series paper. I don't mind this, but it is nice to know this fact up front. I used one of my books for notes in a class that requires a lot of picture drawing. it is very nice not to have blank pages. My favorite note taking pen on this paper is the zebra fountain pen with water soluble ink. It did not soak through the paper. Flair markers and Zebra mild liners markers did not soak through with normal use. Pentel micro brush and Winsor & Newton watercolor markers did not soak through either. All lines were nice and crisp. My Bic alcohol markers did soak though and I think copics would too which is typical with those. I have not tried a dip pen yet. I did add some water to some of the pen marks, the color soaked through but did not bleed. I finally tested some all out watercolor on the page. The paper is on the "grabby" side so it is not as easy to move the color around after application, but it did not bleed once placed unless I used the wet on wet method. These did soak through a little, but not as much as I expected. The paper buckled less than expected too. Colored pencil is just okay. I actually prefer a little less tooth for that. It might be great for chalk work. Overall, good paper for doing lots of scratch work.

it was alright. got this as a replacement journal for one that i filled up because my friends and i share a sketchbook and take turns buying them (very fun idea btw). noting how cheap it was it wasn’t horrible, and the paper was fairly nice quality, but if you’re going to be using it frequently and/or carrying it around in a bag, i’d recommend against it. the spiral isn’t fully connected, which usually isn’t a problem, but it was super loose and not as sturdy as it should be so a lot of the spirals popped out of the paper, leaving us with basically a loose leaf binder that i have to use pliers to curl back in every few days to avoid all the paper falling out.
tldr- nice paper, good for price, bad spiral. don’t get it if you’re going to travel with it or use it frequently as it will likely break and need regular management to maintain

My youngest sister loves to draw, so when I saw this along with some other items I just had to buy it for her. This spiral bound sketch pad is ideal for drawing and sketching, it is a nice size that could be hand held if you wished (8.5" x 11" inches).

I liked the classic design and feel to the sketch pad, it’s the way I would expect one to look and feel (I’m no artist by the way), both cover and paper feel nice. If my sister gives me the thumbs up for this then I will be purchasing more for her.

Cheap, poor quality paper unsuitable for most media

Was disappointed to find that the paper in this sketchbook is extremely flimsy and thinner than printer paper. The pages feel like paper towels. Inks and paints leak straight through. It has a strange smooth texture which is unsatisfying to draw on even with pencil. After some use I've found that the pages start to tear out very easily when I'm drawing, unsurprising as the paper is so thin. Any pressure at all near the spiral-binding will cause tears.

The paper also isn't white and is more of a yellowish/cream color. This doesn't bother me usually but is worth mentioning. 1 star.
