We bought this in Spring/Summer of 2020. It has gotten us through Summer, Fall, and most of winter.
We bought this unit to use in the upstairs of an old farmhouse with inadequate ducting for heating and cooling. Our upstairs is approximately 400 square feet.
Installation was easy with little to no hiccups. Highly recommend watching a few install videos online first to get a game plan together. This was approximately a 4 hr weekend project from start to finish NOT including trip to home improvement store for additional items needed like wiring, external box, etc.
I am not an electrician or an HVAC guy but I have general knowledge. Once installed, a young licensed HVAC kid came out to leak check and vacuum lines (to preserve the warranty and bc I don't have the appropriate tools to vac the lines) which took about an hour.
The young man even took the time to go through all the remote control settings and gave us his opinion on how best to run it to get max efficiency and max $$ savings. He charged us $50 working off the clock.
While it is "quiet," it isn't noise free. Particularly when it first kicks on. It is quieter than most fans, ceiling fans, etc but as should be expected it produces about the same amount of ambient noise as the air coming through our registers when our furnace is running.
We were a little concerned bc we expected it to "kick off" once the room reached the prescribed temperature like a furnace does but it doesn't. It runs constantly, just the hotness or coldness of the air being discharged changes. We were a little concerned how much our electric bill would go up, but bc its preventing our furnace from having to kick on as much, our electric bill actually went down per month! Not by much, $10-$15 per month but its better than going up!
We are very happy with this unit. We've shared the info with multiple friends and family. Would highly recommend.
