- Completely silent, even under load
- Fully modular-ness makes install/reinstall/removal a breeze
- Fantastic for mini cases
- Ultra short cables
- Cables should be all loose, instead of ribbonized for maximum flexibility
- SATA power should have both 90º and 180º options, instead of just 90º
- Should have come with SFX to ATX adapter
In the month I've used it so far, it's been nothing short of amazing.
This, paired with the SG13 was the best machine I've ever built.
Opted to get the Silverstone PP08 adapter for extra ventilation.
6/19 The RMA process via the Corsair website was fairly straightforward albeit frustratingly slow, but I now have a new PSU. Fingers crossed that this one lasts longer than the first. To be fair, I give the WORKING PSU 5 stars, I love it, it is quiet, and fits perfectly in my custom build, but I docked a star because of the inconvenience of having to get a replacement so soon after my initial purchase.
Since it's standard SFX size you've got more room to maneuver in the cases which support SFX-L. The modular cables are not super soft, but they are flexible enough to route without having them fight with you. My only objection to the cables is that the clips don't seem to latch as positively as others. This PSU has two separate 6+2 pin PCIe power cables which both run all the way back to the PSU. The Silverstone I replaced had one heavier cable with dual 6+2 pin headers on one end which was a little nicer to deal with.
In a Silverstone Raven, the internal power routing for the input power can't quite reach the connection on this PSU without unhooking it from its internal clips so it can cut the corner in the case. The PSU's connection is at the far end relative to the cable routing, and the connector is upside-down compared to what the case was designed for, requiring an extra loop.
This PSU did not come with an ATX adapter plate, so you can't put it in a larger PC case.
Overall I'm very happy that this PSU is available now: The Silverstone SX500-LG I replaced made horrible chirpy sounds at low loads because it tried to drive the fan a little too slowly. The SFX-L (larger, square, fits 120mm fan) was also much harder to work with.
Note: The included image is of my Fractal Nano S build with custom cables (not using included cables). I wanted an SFX power supply to gain some clearance around the graphics card.
The cables are far too stiff for my tastes though. Makes them hard to manage. For some reason it doesn't come with a dual 6+2 pin pcie connector. Most high end GPUs would need more than a single 8 pin. So, you'll have to use two physical cables instead of the one.
You'll need to buy an SFX to ATX adapter if you want to use it in many cases since this doesn't come with one for some reason. All of silverstone's sfx PSUs come with an adapter. Luckily Silverstone sells their adapter here on amazon and it's far better than corsair's adapter you can buy directly from their. Corsair's adapter has your PSU floating in mid air. Silverstone's mounts it so it's flush with the bottom of where your ATX sized PSU would be.
Top international reviews
- It feels quality, small and heavy unit
- Powers my 9700k + 1080Ti with ease with mild overclocking.
- Fan is DOA. Without the fan working, this thing runs HOT (80 degrees). My temps in the Node 202 were unbearable, overheating my motherboard and crashing my system. I've run an external fan set up to cool the PSU until I sort this out with Corsair.
**It took awhile to complete my build waiting on components, so I cannot return to Amazon as 30 window passed. Working through RMA process with Corsair as of April 15th. Will update if everything works out.
Edit 2: RMA accepted. Have to pay Corsair $68 shipping to send back to California. Not happy about this.
Edit 3: finally received my replacement May 1st. 12v is 11.8-11.9. I’m now having issues with power delivery to my gpu...
After 2 month and a week the pcie cable caught on fire during my daily gaming session.
The power supply itself is fine imo but the weak modular cable that goes with it are made cheap and it's freaking dangerous.
I used to let this pc turned on 24/7. This could have happened during my sleep, and burn the house with my wife and my baby !!!!
Excuse my grammar I'm French speaker.
Corsair support seems to think it's normal to have cables that are so poorly made they are unusable. I am back and forth with them (still, 8 days in) about what to do. They say "they all come like that". Maybe best to avoid Corsair PSUs unless you'd like to get aftermarket cables too.
Now this does fix that problem because this power supply is tiny and can give a couple inches extra space for my radiator....
There is one problem and complaint I have with this though, all the cables that come with this power supply are far too short. It makes almost all of them completely useless. I am using a standard mid size case, but the shortness is just a joke, they should at least offer a few extension cables for the cost of this unit.
I had to use extensions on most of the cables. Bit of a hassle but mostly works now. Added extra cost though having sacrifice my extension cables to do this when they could have at least added a few more inches of length and saved me a world of headaches.
Nice job corporations, guess i'll have to replenish my cable stocks i had to waste extending all the cables.
I built this into an NZXT H200, which is a slightly larger mid tower itx case. My motherboards 24 pin connector was in the top right corner of the board and due to the height of the case, the cable couldn’t reach both the motherboard and PSU at the same time. I had to buy a CableMod 4 cable extension set to make sure everything could be plugged in. The CPU 8 pin was also too short at 400mm in length. Unless you are building into a tiny case, be prepared to spend extra on extension cables. The PCI-E cables were the appropriate length but difficult to make neat due to the way they were bunched together.
was half the size of a regular ATX psu, a regular psu would not fit into the node202
my build was mostly for movie with some minor gaming and working usage
the components were : i7 7700k, gtx1080mini, strix z270i, corsair hd120, 2tb sshd, m.2 250gb
and it provides enough power for the rig to runs smooth
sometimes i leave it on overnight and so it saves power comparing to other psu
would recomment to anyone who it trying to do a miniATX/microATX build
I still don't understand how Corsair fit 750W Platinum PSU in this tiny contraption
in the picture it is a reference to DDR4 Corsair RGB platinum, second picture installed in Lian-li TU150
Great power delivery. Corsair did an amazing job
The usual price is 114$ but there was a sale for 95% and then the used price came down to 85$ so I saved alot of many.
