CRC 5103 Quick Dry Electronic Cleaner ... Professional Results in a Can !

CRC Electronic Cleaner has been on the Market well over 40-years. That's how long I have frequently used it. It is the Best on the Market and is priced very affordably. Caution: Unplug any devices / components prior to use ... Also Remove Batteries from portable Electronics. I have a lot of Electronic Components in and around my home. Auto Stereos, etc. too. CRC 5301 is an excellent cleaner for any electronic contacts and moving surfaces that my accumulate dust over time. I always use compressed Air [in a Can] to blow off dust ... then use the CRC to deep clean the contact surfaces. I remove all of the knobs from my Home Theatre Equipment [remember to UNPLUG devices first] then Spray these controls from the front faceplate of the equipment ... then unscrew the 4-6 outer cabinet screws ... lift off cover ... and sprat moveable knobs & controls from various angles. CRC dries fast. Replace Cabinet screws ... reposition Component in its place ... WAIT at least 15-minutes ... then turn it on.

VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE: When spraying items [small bursts] ... make sure that you TWIST or MOVE the KNOBS / Switches in maximum up/down ... left/right positions ... and 100% rotate knobs back and forth several times. This will clean the contact surfaces like a Pro Technician.

Definitely much cheaper than buying a new phone. I am sure that this is not the intended purpose of this product, but worked well for me.

For years I have used another brand of electronic contact cleaner, but recently I've had trouble finding it in stock through my normal channels. So I did some research and CRC QD Electronic Contact Cleaner seemed to be the closest product on the market to what I have been using. Once my supply of original cleaner was exhausted I began using the first can of CRC. It does an equivalent job of cleaning to my original cleaner. But, there are some differences: First, my original cleaner comes with a spray head that is adjustable for how much cleaner is dispensed (high, medium and low positions of the spray head by turning it on the can). This is very useful in how much cleaner is sprayed each time the head is pressed down. I don't always want a large amount of cleaner, especially in small areas inside electronics and electrical parts. Besides, this stuff is expensive (both brands) and spraying way more than needed is wasteful. Second, and perhaps more importantly, I have never had any damage or discoloration of materials when using my original electronic cleaner, so I made the mistake of assuming the CRC QD would be as benign on materials as my old cleaner. Yes, I said mistake because in my first use of the CRC QD I didn't take precautions for over-spray and/or splatter. I managed to splatter my Lenovo laptop's keyboard slightly (I wasn't trying to clean the laptop, I had it on my workbench using it for reference on my "cleaning" project). I didn't notice it right away and so didn't remove it. Besides, thinking it would safe on different surfaces, as my previous cleaner, I probably wouldn't have worried about wiping it down. As I said already, my mistake! My Lenovo ThinkPad's keyboard now has what seem to be permanent pale light grey freckles across one corner of its surface. There was no physical damage, it seems to be just discoloration. While the QD does clean electrical contacts very well, I think it should be noted that on the back of the cleaner's can, at the top of the can is CRC's description of the product and it ends with: "Harmless to most plastics and paper tapes." Unfortunately, my Lenovo's plastic (one of the most widely sold brands in the world) was not impervious to CRC's formulation in their electronic cleaner. I am not blaming CRC of any wrong doing; it's my fault for not being more careful. But I intend to return to buying my original brand of spray contact cleaner as soon as I can locate a new supplier. CRC QD works, but use caution if you care about any of the surfaces you use it on or around. I would really like to share what my preferred brand of cleaner is, but I believe if I did my review would not be posted, so I submit this review as a guarded recommendation for conditional use.

Been using this stuff for years. Works great, does not leave a residue, does not melt plastic of any kind that I have used it on. Will remove carbon dust from electric motors, clean off scratchy pots on volume controls. Spray intermittent contacts and burnish, spray again, good to go.

Excellent to spray the bottom of phone contacts...all the dead skin, lint, etc that collects in the bottom of a phone can be easily washed out with this, no harm to phone...just don't overdue it and flood the phone to get screen wet.

Worked exactly as expected to clean out auto fuse box!

Used this to clean out my car's engine compartment fuse box. After a few winters in the snow and salt, plus a bad fuse box lid design, I had a lot of corrosion in there that had started to impact my electrical systems (headlights wouldn't work for example). After doing some research, this cleaner seemed to be the go-to product. So I took everything out and took out the fuse box. Some quick sprays with this stuff and some light scrubbing made a world of difference. It seemed to dry quickly, but I also hit it with some compressed air to speed things along. Put everything back in and replaced the bad fuses and now everything works great!

The main reason I purchased this electronics cleaner was because the volume knob on my car radio was working erratically. Based on some research, I was going to use contact cleaner, but that seemed more expensive, and this electronics cleaner seemed to do the same exact thing for my purposes. Luckily, it did.

With the car completely off, I took the knob off and used the included straw to spray behind and around the chip/sensor and post for the knob. I let it work and dry for a few seconds, then used compressed air in case there was any debris to clear. I repeated this three times, then let everything dry a few minutes. Even though this stuff dries in a few seconds, I didn't want to take a chance. I mounted the knob, turned the car back on, and everything worked as it did before.

This can is huge, so as long as it stores well, I will likely use this again for cleaning other delicate electronic components.
