Fixed my Check Engine Light Code P0171 (System too lean)

The dreaded check engine light. I drive an old Camry that still runs great, but was a bit distraught when the check engine light came on. I absolutely have no trust for mechanics and know pretty much nothing about cars so figured I would try some troubleshooting first with help from the internet. Bought a cheap OBD-II scanner, triple checked the gas cap, changed the engine air filter, then finally used this product after watching a YouTube video. It was very easy. And it worked! It's been almost 6 months and no return of the check engine light. Glad I gave it a try before wasting a lot of money on a mechanic. YMMV, but worth a try for sure.

Quite honestly, I was not expecting this to work. I was getting a p0171 code on my Acura (fuel system too lean) and my car was getting terrible mileage. I pulled out the sensor, used the cleaner, waited for it to dry, then reinstalled the sensor. The code disappeared, the car is now running better, and my car is reporting an average of 7 mpg higher. I haven't refilled the gas tank yet to verify mileage, but there's noticeable improvement already.

For a few bucks, it can't hurt to try this stuff and save yourself $$$.

Does what it says, no damage to MAF, dries fast and clean, no damage to plastic. I noticed an increase in throttle response and better start-up after use.

Very easy to use, I removed the MAF plenum and sprayed (no touch) the sensors with some shop towels underneath, they look like resistors. My car (2008 Pontiac Grand Prix) also has a MAF sensor plate which I sprayed as well. A little goes a long way, this can should last me a while. After several good bursts, the can is over 90% fill.

A much needed product for an overlooked component, instructions recommend use after air filter replacement.

Easy fix!

I had a check engine light and some codes related to intake temperature. After replacing the filter, I decided to give this a shot. The first time I cleaned it, a lot of oil came off the sensor, but the code was still present. I was about to replace the sensor but decided to use half the can on it to be sure. After thoroughly soaking it with this cleaner, the codes went away. Saved me $190 that a new MAF would have cost. Give this a try before replacing your MAF! (P0113, and P2199 codes cleared off of my Ram ecodiesel)

This was so easy to use and such a simple maintenance task, yet has made a significant difference to the efficiency of my vehicle.
I used an OBDII scanner to measure MAF before and after cleaning and at idle, my truck dropped from 6.1 g/s to 5.1 g/s due to the cleaning alone.
The effect of this was to drop my rpm's albeit only 20rpm at idle and smooth out my tickover. The biggest bonus for me is that my truck had been running rich, popping up a P0420 code on the rear O2 sensor, I thought my cat had gone bad (it probably is on its way) but due to correcting the air into the engine, less fuel is being used, my truck runs less rich and my ailing cat is no longer throwing out a P0420 code!! amazing! and all for just 10 minutes work.
Highly recommend a quick clean of the MAF sensor every time you change the air filter, especially if using an oil coated filter like K&N (I am).

I was encountering poor engine performance and the occasional "check engine" light, especially when accelerating at full throttle. The vehicle has had a K&N filter on it for years and read on the internet that over time the oil from the filter and dust can get stuck to the Mass Air Flow Sensor and cause reading problems, that can cause performance issues. This product was recommend for safe cleaning. Amazon had it at a great price, so ordered it and received it a day later. Cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor and after reinstalling, immediately notice the difference. Better acceleration and no more check engine light when putting the pedal to the metal. Great product!
