I would say this is a necessity when deshrouding your GPU, which is taking off the stock fans and using better fans in their place with this splitter. Also for water cooling your GPU with an AIO using a mounting bracket like the G12. Your GPU has a fan header or two on it like your motherboard, but it is smaller. You need this to convert to the regular size.
One thing I would change is if they could make it with a right angle connection to the GPU, it would have been perfect. I broke a little plastic on one of my GPU fan headers because it wants to go straight up. If you are using the G12, it could be a bit annoying to deal with. It works fine though, using it on a 1080Ti SC2 ICX card.

Super happy to find that a cable like this already exists, which speaks to the population who do actually repair their own VGA cards.
