A wonderfully made folder with great value that doesn't disappoint...
I bought this knife and love it. It's very solid, weighty, pocketable, well made, SUPER sharp, and looks great! The shape and hollow grind of the 3" straight-edge tanto blade with its part brushed and part mirror-polish finish, is aggressive, unique, handsome, and top notch. The flipper tab and detent feel great and, coupled with the highly respected, reliable, quick and silky-smooth IKBS ball-bearing system on the pivot, flipping the blade out is a pleasure. The liner lock is very solid with no blade movement vertically or laterally once it snaps into place with a pronounced and satisfying "click."The pivot is large and has a unique, three-layered or stair-step design. It's very solid, adjustable, and beautiful, and is identical on both the back and presentation sides. The frame is actually quite thick and SOLID and makes up the bulk of the knife's weight. It just feels like quality. And the stainless-steel finish is very nice and consistent, front and back. Some of the edges on the body, due to the design, although not sharp, are, in fact, "sharPER" than what I might ordinarily prefer. But it's not what I'd call an uncomfortable knife. It feels quite alright in the hand. With that in mind, please note that it's no heavy duty workhorse of a knife. I'd say it's more of a cross between a very effective EDC and a stylish gentleman's folder of sorts. It's definitely got the looks, yet it's a very usable knife at that. The clip allows for a very low ride in the pocket and in tip-up position (which is preferred by most). Yet most clips on knives are not made very solid and this one is no exception as it leaves much to be desired and is thin and bends out of shape a little too easily. I mean, it's not entirely unfortunate, but CRKT (and most other production knife manufacturers) need to pay far more attention to their clips. So the clip is my only real complaint and, at some point, I'll have a thicker, solid, custom one made. The only other thing I didn't like too much on this knife, was the matte blue finish. It wasn't unattractive, but the shade and texture of the blue did not catch my eye in particular, although the overall design of the knife did. Also, the blue rubs off too easily and is not durable. So, as you can see in the photo I uploaded, I covered those blue sections, front and back, with matte-finish (not gloss), self-adhering 3M DI-NOC black carbon fiber flex wrap (which you can buy here on Amazon for very little cost). I had to make use of a heat-gun (one of which I bought on Amazon for about $30) to make the carbon fiber wrap more pliable and apply it properly into all the nooks and crannies; followed by carefully cutting away the excess with an Xacto knife. Once it cools, the high-quality wrap hardens and is very durable and, not to mention, looks fantastic. To me, it gives the knife a much nicer look and I think CRKT should consider making this the default finish in those sections. To be quite honest, clip and blue-finish sections aside, I'm quite surprised at how much quality CRKT squeezed out of this model at this price point. The blade is south of $40, yet it feels like it's three times as much. I'm very happy with my purchase and I would never hesitate to recommend this company and this particular knife. I own two other CRKT models (a Mah Eraser and a Van Hoy Snap Fire), and they're both great blades. For production knives at the under-$50-price-point, CRKT knows what they're doing.Highly recommended.

Edit: Still working well 4 years later. Pocket lint can sometimes get stuck in a groove on the inside of the handle, preventing smooth operation of the blade - but you just need to clean it.

This is a super nice knife. It looks really slick, it's sharp enough to shave a Swiss man's stubble, it's a little heavy but still comfortable to everyday carry, and SOMEhow despite all the crazy angles on the handle, it's comfortable to hold and use.

Looks: I've had it for about a week, and I'm still frequently whipping it out just to look at it and play with it. And yes, I'm still talking about the knife. It has this crazy futuristic vibe to it, and is very nicely designed.

Sharpness: I have surprisingly tough, thick facial hair - some razors won't even do a good job. Obviously I'd prefer a good Astra Platinum razor blade, but this knife would do in a pinch if I had no razor handy.

Construction: The blade is 8Cr14Mov steel - a Chinese steel with excellent edge retention properties- it's a bit harder than the very popular AUS-8 steel. Benchmade uses 8Cr14Mov in some of their blades.
Overall, it's on the heavy side for an EDC knife (about 6 oz), mainly due to it's all-metal construction. The handle feels very sturdy, and is made of a martensitic stainless steel. The hinge is actually a ball-bearing joint technology called IKBS, which is a compact and very smooth bearing.

Comfort: Even though it's very abstract-looking, it fits in the hand (or pocket) well, and is fine for everyday use. The flipper thingie works well, and operates smoothly.

If you're on the fence and trying to choose between a few different knives in this price range, just do it. You'll like this knife; it's good quality and it looks better than the last knife you looked at.

I found out about this knife through a MassDrop drop that had the knife listed at $35. I thought it was a good deal and looked through the discussion and found it on Amazon for $39. I went with the Amazon purchase because there was also a %10 coupon bringing the knife to $35.37... And I would have it faster than the MassDrop.

So, here I am... Writing a review about the knife and what I like and don't like about it and what I feel someone should be made aware of.

First and foremost. This is *not* a light knife. It is heavier than it appears to be, as well as larger. It fits a large hand rather well, but medium and smaller... it will be uncomfortable weight wise. The weight is *very* handle heavy. When the knife is open, there is the spot where the liner lock is at... The hump right by the liner lock is where the balance point is. Not at the pivot/bearing where it should be for a balanced knife. Will this make a big difference in the use of the knife? No. Not in the least. That is not if you don't plan on using the knife in a fight or to throw it. Using it as a pocket knife for whittling or opening things... no big deal. Fighting off zombies and giant bees... get something else.

The next thing is the finish. The knife itself is very nice in terms of finish. There is one small blemish on my knife, but that will happen regardless as it will be an EDC. The polish on the blade is superb.

As the blade has been exercised, the bearings have broken in more and more. This is good and bad as the blade now has faster movement. The downside is that the liner lock now pushes the blade close enough to the frame to start wearing some of the matte finish near the tip of the tanto blade. Right now it is very minor, but as time goes on so too will the wearing. It has no affect upon the actual performance, but is irritating to know that there is going to be a wear point.

The last thing to talk about is the edge. The blade that I received is not *wicked sharp* It is passable for sharpness in that if you pull the blade across paper it will cut. It is not sharp enough, by my definition, be called *wicked*. For that to have happened it would have to cut paper with a pushing down the edge of paper without a pulling motion. This knife does not do that. It will need to be sharpened to achieve that.

All in all, this looks like it is going to be a nice EDC for me (the husband), and one that I particularly enjoy showing to people.

Premessa importante: mi è arrivato affilato a rasoio.
