Another swashbuckler with blood magic, swords, and action. This one fits ob the middle of the series actually.
Jack has grown up in training as a Black Dog, defender of the people against the Nostros. The Nostros are a vampire race that live across the ocean and seek to overrun Jack's homeland. It is early in the industrial age when horses, swords, and single shot guns are used but the Nostros have not discovered the secret of gun powder. So, they try to steal some and this is the adventure in which Jack finds himself as an unwitting major player. He and his friends have one more year of training before they become official Black Dogs.
How will young Jack and his friends fare is the whole story in this short read. Mysteries are not well disguised but work to keep you involved. story line is good with challenges abound for the players. New thinking for young trainers with no combat training to suddenly be thrown into the body war with loss of life, killing, and surviving.
A story of coming off age in a violent war that doesn't feel real until you see and hear the first real engagement. Very much le or God soldiers experience today with the "real fight" over there!
