Product Description

This CS Hyde UHMW polyethylene tape attaches with rubber adhesive backing to provide surface protection, as well as friction and noise reduction, and for lining chutes, conveyors, drawers, and other sliding surfaces. The tape's ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene surface resists abrasion and impact for use in packaging applications. The UHMW polyethylene tape also has anti-stick and low friction properties for a slippery yet protective surface that enables sliding ease and reduces noise in packaging applications. To attach securely to surfaces, the tape has 0.005" thick pressure-sensitive rubber adhesive backing. This tape has a maximum tensile strength of 18 and a temperature range of 32 to 150 degrees F for use in above-freezing conditions. The 4-3/4"-diameter roll of tape provides 18 yards of 1" tape.

This stuff is great as a UHMW tape with an adhesive backing. The model in my review is in fact a thin (0.025") strip of UHMW perfect for making jigs slippery and acting as a friction-free shim tape. Amazon offers several other sizes, though they don't specify the thickness. My recommendation is to go to the CS Hyde website and translate the model numbers into your product specs, then come back and search for the part number (if you need a specific size).

I bought this tape to use on wooden drawers in a vintage wood cabinet. Stuck it to the wooden slides on the bottoms of the drawers as well as where they rest on the wood slides inside the cabinet. It worked like a charm. No more sticking or squeaking. The drawers glide right out and back again. Definitely worth the money, and I plan to use it on the kitchenful of drawers that stick.

This does work well. You really have to make sure you have the surface your applying it to is super-duper clean. If you can't get it to stick,use contact cement on the surface you are putting it on. This is rare however.

I'm a novice woodworker who hasn't mastered the art of building perfectly square drawers yet. So when I built a queen size storage bed for my daughter which featured six massive drawers, I was a bit intimidated to use drawer slides. Instead, I just put down a couple of spacing blocks, ran the tape along the tops and voila! Perfectly sliding drawers that are working great! My daughter uses one of the drawers to hold mass quantities of magazines, and the weight is not causing the drawers to bind up. A nice slide every time. Cool product!

This tape is fantastic. I used it on the drawers in my crappy goodwill bureau. Now they slide in and out like they're made out of hardwood, instead of plywood, no more squeaky, annoying difficulty.

I can't wait to use it on the other stubborn drawers in my apartment. This tape really does make a huge difference, I wish I had heard about it earlier.

I found this tape extremely useful in quieting all sorts of things around the house. The drip tray rails on my espresso machine was rough and removing the tray always made an unnerving scraping sound. I added a couple of strips to the rail and my oh my, so quiet! I did the same for all of my steel drawers in my tool shop.

I opened my espresso machine and added a tiny sliver of this tape on microswitch lever bar and the scrapy metal-on-metal sound of the grouphead lever (it is a La Marzocc Linea Mini) completely went away. Here's a photo of that application: http://i.imgur.com/RonsXnL.png

I purchased this to place on my miter gauge on the tablesaw. It works as advertised. It is also very thin, making it useful for jigs and drawer slides. Its easy to apply, just peel and stick. And unlike so many other "tape" type products, this tape is cut straight without wavery edges, allowing you to follow a line or an edge without too much mid-taping adjustment. Just find the edge and follow.

I've been using this stuff on all sorts of friction surfaces and it really makes sliding easy. The sticky side is extremely sticky so you only get one application. This material is so tough and clear its amazing. Highly recommended!

NOTE: Not for use in direct sunlight! The adhesive hardens in a short time and releases the plastic.
