Why am I so excited? Well, ever since I started doing daily Android App video reviews, I have been on a constant search for a display that would hold my tablet at not only a decent viewing angle, but vastly more importantly, hold it rock steady so I don't get wibble-wobble as I touch, poke, perhaps energetically play a game as I demonstrate it. This is it, folks. This is it for both portrait and landscape orientations. I have finally found my solution.
Plus, I can use the little cutouts at the top for general tool purposes, and the included capacitive stylus. I must highlight this stylus... it has a generously wide 7.5mm tip with a chunky wood grip. The tip is a standard rubber (not capacitive mesh), but I have seen the few pens available in this style and tip width go easily for 10 bucks alone.
Now as I mention in my video review, I feel necessary to disclose that the unit I received does have minor cosmetic flaws. Certain imperfections are to be expected in a wood product, but there are also a couple drip lines from the finish lacquer around the interior edges. Nothing particularly discernible to the casual eye (heck, I left plenty of similar drip lines with my own lacquer work), yet as one who has been among guitar players who find even the slightest speck on a new axe maddening, I feel compelled to mention it.
Nevertheless, I am supremely happy with this stand, and for those of you who may be following my Amazon's Free App of the Day video reviews... you shall be seeing this nifty stand in constant action. :D
-- I received this as a complimentary review product with the aim of hopefully elucidating features and drawbacks that may help you ultimately decide what fits your needs and budget best.
Inside dimensions of the cutout for the tablet is 9 9/16 x 9.5 inches (approximately since my eyesight is a little challenged). I am guessing that most 10 to 10.1 inch tablets will fit, but measure carefully if you have something other than an iPad or Tab 3 10.1.
While this is a great knife block as well, I honestly do not use that feature since I have other blocks. Where this excels is as a multi-purpose stand that is at home on a desk as it is on a kitchen counter.
For me the viewing angles are adequate, but I am guessing that it will not incline beyond sixty degrees. In a kitchen or on a desk this works well for me and I have yet to have any glare issues at any angle.
I have used it in the kitchen, but not for traditional recipes. Youtube is a great source of recipes that are presented in ways that a written one cannot begin to match. I use the included stylus to manipulate the screen to pause and restart video recipes. That is a major convenience in the kitchen because it keeps my olive oil and flour encrusted fingers from messing up my screen. And I sometimes use this on my desk to watch movies.
Basically, this is one of the nicest stands for the tablets that I mentioned (and probably many other brands and models). I have gotten a lot of use from it in the short time that I've owned it. Believe me, it's much more than a novelty holder for the kitchen. And for the record, I did test it with knives and it is perfect for that use too.
I've uploaded two photos showing both the iPad and Kindle Fire situated on the CTA knife block.

Like everyone else, I've tried several stands and if they haven't been perfect, they've done the job, particularly with the addition of a 1 gallon zip-lock bag to keep the flour out of the iPad and much off the screen. None of them have been beautiful though. This CTA Digital Bamboo Adjustable Kitchen Stand for iPad with Knife Storage (PAD-BKS) is not only superbly designed to function well in a kitchen, easily positioned at several different angles, it is a gorgeous display piece, solidly made of bamboo. Even better, the stand functions as a knife block for several of your favorite knives.
The stand is designed to fit iPad 2, 3, 4 and iPad Air. (Other tablets may also fit, though the original iPad will not.)
Grandma's $0.02 - If you have the counter space, this is a gorgeous display piece. Otherwise it folds up to about an inch thick for easy storage. THE perfect gift for any foodie!
