Wow. I wish I'd read this book when I was in high school, rather than after more than 15 years in the workforce. Though it's never too late for self-examination, this book would have been immensely beneficial in helping me identify not only my goals in life, but my passions. Well, this book is definitely helpful in identifying your sweet spot, and I couldn't be happier with the personal results from reading this book. As always, Max Lucado delivers.

I'm now referring this book to all my friends who have high school and college aged kids. They can't go wrong.

As a followup to this, the Marcus Buckingham book "Now, Discover Your Strengths" is a great business-focused read that also works to define personal and professional strentghs, and where you may be most successful. I actually found this pairing to be very effective; one approaching the topic from a religious perspective, the other from a business perspective.

This has become my most-recommended book to friends that are struggling with work-life balance. It pushed me to think about my talents, and how I could get a new job utilizing more of my natural talents that I enjoy. I changed jobs about a year after studying this book, and I enjoy this job much more than my last. It is much easier finding balance with a job that matches your gifts, versus one that you can perform very well in, but may not fit in with your natural gifts.

I shared this book with my Sunday School class, and we covered two chapters a week. We had some great discussions around it. I have also recommended it to my friends that are not Christians, because many of the points simply make so much sense, regardless of whether or not you are a Christian. This is my favorite Lucado book of all.

The best chapter is Chapter 15, in which the author writes about doing onerous tasks as part of servanthood. While the object of this book is finding what people are good at and what they enjoy, being a servant is a very important part of Christianity.
