Cheap and unreliable

This product is made out of the cheapest possible materials. When I tried to use mine, one of the wires in the molex power connector was "pushed out" by the power supply pin. I had to manually open the PS pins a bit to allow a proper contact. On the first try, the PS made a loud "pop" and stopped working, with the corresponding smell of electronics burning. There goes a power supply.

I bought this from a 3rd party seller, who initially asked me to ship it back for refund. The problem is that the price of the item equals shipping, so I would essentially spend the refund on shipping. Luckily, the seller understood the situation and refunded me without the need to ship it back.

NOT like the picture!

I already have a similar one (by a different 'manufacturer,' although it's pretty clear they all come out of the same factory), but w/o the SATA connector. The reason I chose this over a slightly cheaper model was for the convenience of having the SATA cable built right into the head, as both pictures clearly show; one less cable to carry around or lose. When I got the item, I discovered the head has a jack for SATA and a separate cable. Aside from that, the unit functions. Get the cheaper one.

I priced this item at many other places, this one was by far the most inexpensive. It works about 70% of the time. The other 30% of the time you end up plugging and unplugging the device to get it to work. Also if you do purchase this item as soon as you open the box, take the disc out and throw it away, it is useless.

AC Adapter

The AC Adapter refuses to power the unit. No light on the brick, no DC voltage at the molex. At the price point, it is not worth it to return, as I had another power brick from an IDE to USB - this unit also does SATA.
