Cable for surveillance cameras and computers...perfect!

I was installing a wired (POE) surveillance system and at the same time hard-wiring my computers to my router, doing away with wifi. I've planned this project for some time and was just waiting on the winter months as I would be navigating my attic, drilling holes, fishing walls...not something you want to do in the summer! January...perfect! This cable is good stuff...solid-core...easy to pull out of the box...no tangles or kinks. The crap wire they send with these camera surveillance systems is just that...crap. I threw it out and made my own cables. Piece of cake! My only regret...not buying three boxes, could have saved my-old-a** some grief and pulled three wires at one time...you live and learn, LOL!

If'n I need more wire, I'll do it all over again...worth every penny. So I purchased two 500' box's, pulled 16 runs, used 895' crimpted 32 plugs "no-runs-no-drips-no-errors! Life is good!

I've never worked with outdoor rated cable before so this may be the norm but the cable is really stiff, (and that was in hot weather), and kinks very easily. I'm not a fan of rip cords and don't see any value in them, it's just something that you are going to have to cut off on every termination. Even though the cable is supposed to be 24AWG, the overall cable diameter is thinner than what I'm used to and doesn't inspire quality. If you are careful not to kink the cable it is a good value for what it is. If you are willing to pay more for a premium cable, then go with that. I rate this cable 3.5 stars mostly for the relatively low cost.

Cheap budget cable

I have worked with a lot of ethernet runs in my life so comparing vs other cable I've dealt with..

this stuff isn't the best it's "budget" cable it does not handle bending well at all it very much wants to "crimp" itself when running angles. It's not a high quality feel but I guess you get what you pay for so I can't complain for the price. I kind of wish I spent more and got something else.

I used to be in the cabling/ telecom business, so I had my reservations about a relatively inexpensive box of cable. I set up a second router as an access point on the other side of my house, and despite an admittedly imperfect run (lots of electrical in the way) I’m getting 91mbps download and 95mpbs upload.
My setup: My isp is Verizon with 100mpbs up/down and I’m running through an older 100mpbs Actiontec router as well as a “classic” blue Linksys. So, given this less than optimal configuration, I’m still getting great speed. This stuff works.

It is thin and a bit rigid. Used to put wall outlets in rooms running through basement and up outside of house. Only downside is it is a bit thinner in diameter then I am used to and the ends I have don't make the greatest crimp on the wire, however haven't had an end fall off yet.

Good cable for the price. I spent a little more for this product for its outdoor rating. The outer jacket seems a lot thicker than a lot of other cheaper cat 5 options.

However, because of this, the cable does not bend very easily. It needs a large bend radius for fear of kinking or breaking the jacket. I trust the durability of the cable more because of this, but in some installations it can be a hindrance. For instance, i wouldn't make a tight turn coming out of a wall for a flush install, but if you're using boxes or walljacks it's perfectly acceptable.
