Works as expected, picture quality is great! The connectors are indeed gold plated, and I have superb picture going through. However, if design is important, even though cables are rarely seen, the cable pictured is not the one you receive. For a better idea of what the connectors look like, take a look at the 3 ft version. The 6 ft version does not have the nice chiclet inspired design as pictured, but instead, a cheesy looking curved design. A bit disappointed, but it works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A word of warning, thunderbolt does not support DVI-A. Only DVI-D and DVI-I. At least this cable doesn't. Something to keep in mind if your monitor requires a DVI-A connection. Basically DVI-A stands for an Analog connection, DVI-D is digital and DVI-I is both.

It works great if you're only connecting one monitor to it, but if you plan on using it with a multi-monitor setup with AMD's EyeFinity or Nvidia's equivalent, IT WILL NOT WORK. This cable is 'inactive'. For Eye-Finity multi-monitor compatibility, you need an 'active' cable, from Accell for example (and since those are short get a DVI male-to-male 6ft extension). Active adapters convert the DVI signal to DP and at least for my graphics card this cable was no bueno. It was relatively cheap so i'm not too disappointed about a $12 loss and having to wait for the other cables to come in, but it was a mistake to buy this considering what i needed it for. I have an HD 7950 GPU. To prevent you from going even further down the rabbit hole, you also cannot use both mini-Displayport outputs on your graphics cards at the same time assuming you have them (at least for AMD's cards- not sure about Nvidia). For example on my graphics card I was able to get a triple monitor setup working by using 1xDVI output, 1xHDMI and 1xmini-DP ports. Ended up wasting another $30 before everything was said and done. But it's working now! PM me if you have similar hardware and have a question.

Ok, so I had two montiors which only had DVI and VGA outputs on them and I wanted to run them on my Macbook Pro. I bought these with the hopes that they would push video signal from my Macbook out to those monitors so that I would have multiple workspaces to use for my photo and video projects.

When I received these cables I was happy with the construction, the cabling was thick and sturdy feeling and the ends were gold plated and looked well-made. Both ends fit very well into the DVI and Thunderbolt ports with no play or looseness.

When I plugged them in, I got instant joy from the Macbook! It regonized the monitors and made both of them extensions of the main screen and they even had their own task bars and docks. Overall I would say that these are awesome cables that do exactly what they are intended to do! I now have a 3 monitor workspace that I can use on my projects.

This cable worked perfectly for me. Some of the other reviews have complained that the DVI end is too large or that the screws are too short, but I didn't feel that there was anything unusual about it and had no trouble connecting to a Dell monitor. Possibly they've made changes to the item?

The plastic moulding at the mini-displayport end is also unremarkable. It does not interfere with the adjacent USB and Firewire ports on my 2011 MacBook Pro.

In short, this cable is exactly what it purports to be. No surprises. If you need it, get it.

Like others have mentioned the plastic housing on the DVI end of this cable is huge. There was no way to connect it to my Dell S2240 LCD monitor. The housing is cheap and thin snap-together plastic (not molded). I ended up removing the housing so I could get it to plug into my monitor and it still works ok although there is some fuzzyness/distortion now that is probably from taking the cover off. I wouldn't suggest doing this unless you are very careful because the wires inside are really tiny and there is a circuit board that could break easilly.

Purchased this cable in January 2014 and by june it was broken...at first it started the flicker in and out and then it just stopped working.

UPDATE: After writing the above review the cable company sent an immediate email and resolved the issue. They sent a replacement free of charge and this one works well so far. I'll update this review after a few months of using the cable.

If you have a monitor without enough clearance around the DVI connectors, like my Dell S2240M LCD, it can be difficult/tricky to plug this DVI cable in. But I prefer the all-in-one cable from a bulkier mini-DP to DVI adapter and then another cable.
