Top Customer Reviews
I'll start by saying the Customer service is excellent, rarely I have seen a company follow up on these reviews and offer a free replacement for testing. Cable matters really cares about their products and reviews which means a lot to me at least.
I tested this product again and used another usb hub from a competitor which did not operate correctly by recognizing more than 1 USB 3.0 device plugged into it at one time. With regards to performance of this hub compared to a direct connection to the PC, while the write speeds are on par, read speeds are marginally slower which is not bad for a device capable of supporting 4 flash drives at once without requiring additional power supply. Using Crystal Disk and AS SSD which tests with compressed data, the flash drives I tested were close to direct connection in terms of speed overall with small deltas between tests. Overall I would be very happy with this hub.
This is one of the few hubs that picked up all my 3.0 flash drives but when it came to transferring it was usb 1.0 speeds
I've been using this as a "poor man's Thunderbolt dock" to connect my external hard drive, mouse, and keyboard when I connect to my work station, and it can definitely handle the full speed for the external drive (over 100MB/s in practice).
This is a good piece of equipment.
I use them with Windows 7 & 8.1
Work just fine out of the box.
Don't need to carry a brick for USB thumb drives, external hard drives, etc.
Larger devices may need more wattage but for backups to external drives on the road, adding a USB device or two to a tablet, they work great.
