This adapter works as intended, and is the best value for DVI female to HDMI Male connectors, but buyers should note that if you require two hdmi ports next to each other, this adapter will not work. The housing of the adapter is very wide, so if the HDMI port is too close to other ports (which is the case of many computers and TV's) it will block the other ports. This works very well for single isolated HDMI ports, but I would not recommend it for high density HDMI housings.

Cheap adapters that actually work

I used these for older NEC monitors in my shop PC setup. My GPU has HDMI and DVI out and the monitors only have VGA and DVI. So what I did was HDMI out to an AV receiver for sound(it's better than RCA to 3.5mm and my PC doesn't have optical out), HDMI from the receiver to DVI at screen 1, and have these adapters at both ends of a 40 ft HDMI cable from the GPU to screen 2. I had all this stuff laying around from my old business so I had nothing in the setup except the price of these adapters and a 3 ft DVI extension when the 40 ft HDMI came up short. It's used for wiring diagrams on cars and Spotify on monitors that aren't capable of 1080p anyway so I see no loss in quality, they work great! Sure there's better ways but I wanted to see how cheap I could pull off the setup and use stuff I had laying around.

I bought this so I could swap the HDMI cables needed for Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi 4 cables. The Pi 4 uses micro HDMI on the board. The picture works great.

The first complaint is the size of the module. The monitor I'm using has a recessed that tries to help with cable management. The module takes up most of the space below the DVI-D plug. When I tried to plug in the HDMI cable required a lot of careful forcing to fit into the space I had. I'm not sure how feasible it is to swap the wires right now. I'm looking for a right angle adapter to make it easier.

As others mentioned, the lack of a screw slot makes it harder to install. I ended up having to use small needle-nose pliers to get the screws to set.

Does not work with early model (A1103) Mac Mini

while this adapter seems to work fine with my Powerbook G4 DVI port it does not work on my A1103 model Mac Mini. Customer service has been responsive, however as yet no answers. From searching on the internet it appears it may be an Apple issue in that early Mac Mini's, even thought they have a DVI port (witch this adapter fits) can not handle HDMI. The description should include this information so buyers with early an model Mac Mini can be aware. If another answer is presented, I will update. I am only giving 4 stars due to not being able to use it as intended. The quality is fine.

I bought these adapters to connect my display tablet to my computer for digital art. I have yet to have any problems with them so far. I've also tried them for connecting monitors, and that worked smoothly too. Overall, I think these are very solid, and I feel confident recommending them.

Edit: After having used these adapters for a few months, I have run into some issues with them. They work fine, but every now and then, the screens using them will begin to flicker. I tried them with different cords and screens to make sure they were the issue. This can be fixed by unplugging and replugging the adapters in, but it happens too frequently to ignore. Look elsewhere!

Product delivered on time. Materials & construction quality appeared to be as advertised. I had planned to use this adapter to connect a MacBook Air (via an attached Belkin hub with an HDMI port) to a Dell monitor with a DVI video input port using one of my HDMI cables. The DVI connector is set inside a recess on the back of the monitor. Unfortunately the combined length of the CableCreation DVI adapter + the length of my HDMI cable connector was a bit too long relative to the dimensions of the recessed area. I could not make the combo fit within the recessed area to connect the DVI adapter to vertically oriented DVI monitor port. Had to return the adapter. Will instead buy CableCreation's DVI-to-HDMI (female) 0.5 ft cable and use my HDMI cable to connect it to the Belkin HDMI port. Recommend checking form and fit for your application to ensure sufficient installation space is available for the adapter + HDMI cable connector.

Comes in resealable bag - 2 adapters. Each adapter has "covers" for each plug - the hdmi was an insert plug (it is a female DVI to female hdmi)

Plug and play - felt above average sturdy, metal screw with rubber/plastic shell - plugged right in to Thinkpad T540p dock, screwed in easily enough - plugged into an hdmi to hdmi right angle to Steygr hdmi switch to monitor.

Immediately recognized and loaded up the monitor once I switched the hdmi switch to the thinkpad. No issues.

Couldn’t be better or easier! I’m an avid Macintosh user. Graphic designer and photographer and need quality monitors. My MacPro is temporarily unusable and I’ve been using a HP laptop. Editing my photos is a nightmare on that screen. I didn’t even know it was possible to run my Apple Cinema Displays on that laptop. After a lot of research on exactly what I needed I found this. Got it and expected a hassle setting it up. All I had to do was plug it on and I was good to go. Picture quality is amazing. And these are so cheap. Only downside is the adapter plus the DVI male end are so bulky together it seemed like a matter of time before the whole deal snapped off. So I just bought a female to female HDMI coupler. So I just plug a HDMI cable into the laptop and the other end goes to the coupler attached to this adapter and Apple monitor DVI cable. Perfect. Highly recommended!!

Won't work for all monitors

This adapter supports single-link DVI cables only. If your monitor requires a dual-link DVI, this adapter will not work. Even if you run your dual-link monitor in a low 1080p resolution, the adapter will not work. For these monitors, if your graphics card has USB C output, you need to find a USB C to Dual-Link DVI converter (then run your DVI-D cable from the converter to your monitor). I ended up getting one from officeworks model number COCMDFAD.

I recommend the Amazon product into be updated to state this is single link only.
