I purchased this S-Video Y Splitter to split the S-video signal from my Mallincam Video Astronomy Camera to a LCD monitor and to my laptop computer. I was worried that the signal would be degraded. However, I can see no noticeable degradation of the signal when compared to a similar setup using a powered video distribution amplifier. The S-video splitter obviously allows a less complicated setup and requires no additional power. For the relatively short runs that I am using, I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

Want to get all those odd adapters you don't know about? Well these guys will take care
all those needs and some, with the help of amazon helpful site suggestions it's just as easy as click here click there, whats that I need that. try to do that anywhere else like stereo specialty sites if you don't know the sku your out of luck. so you try search, good luck with that. It doesn't find ( the thing that goes on the end of this thingy ) But if you can see it you can say there that thing and there's that other adapter they said wasn't made any more. We all had days that mind block was the least of are worries, wife just found a great buy on older ( use imagination ) wants you to hook it up now, then try to explain the adapter you need to make it work. Thats where Amazon and these guys come in, see hunny we need this part right here and look there's the other adapter your brother said you can't get anymore. now she on the phone with bro see what adapters you might need later like, I did and stock up because shipping is usually free. Well, have fun.

I needed a female Svideo plug so I cut one of these open and soldered it in - worked very well, 2x 24 awg wires with grounds surrounding each.

DIDN'T WORK RIGHT FOR ME

It's hard for me to judge if this splitter is good or not because I screwed up. I have DirecTV and an old standard television. I wanted to be able to watch DVDs as well as TV without having to connect and disconnect the cables. I thought this splitter would work but.....turns out DTV's receivers are pumping out a signal to all the connection options, not just the one you're currently using. I can say the splitter made it possible to see DVDs but it didn't really split a signal the way I needed it to for DTV's receivers. It's not the products fault, but mine.

I bought a Composite Video & S-Video Switch from Amazon and it made all my dreams come true. Now I press a button and the signal switches from the DirecTV receiver, a DVD player, or a DVD recorder. I'm happy once again!

Signal is degraded when it is split

I tried this cable for both output as well as for input split , in both cases the video quality was very poor. The signal loss was too severe to use, not acceptable. Depending on the video signal, some video cannot be afforded to split without significant degradation. Both luminance and chroma suffered with lackluster results.
