Nice feature as I didn't have to buy a second video card. The cable works as advertised and very easy to install. Overall, I'm very happy with the cable plus I saved $15 to $50 dollars instead of buying it at a retail store. I bought this cable to connect my gaming PC to a new Dell flatscreen monitor, replacing my previous display with VGA/DVI connections. What I wasn't aware of was, that the new display comes with VGA and HDMI jacks, while my PC didn't have VGA connectivity, but with 2 DVI jacks. And since the new monitor came only with VGA cord, I had to search for a quality digital cable.

One of the PC product review site rated this C2G Velocity relatively high (the same site rated the C2G's another high-end digital cable higher). The material quality was rated good, price was very good, and it's backed by manufacturer's lifetime warranty. Set-up was a no brainer - just plug in the matching ends.

The item itself was shipped right away, but due to the UPS shipping delay (due to some train wreck), I received the item a week later than initially estimated. Since then, I haven't had much time to use PC till recently to check out how it performs. But the result seems pretty good so far. No issues what-so-ever, even with some extended hours of use.

Quality cables

After looking at a large selection of cables on Amazon and elsewhere, I decided to avoid the "under $15" cables due to the accompanying legal disclaimer that they weren't up to par:

"Legal Disclaimer

"Beware of thin cheaper aftermarket cables. Generally cables under $14.00 can NOT be made up to current standards due to the current cost of copper increases! These "knock-off" cables will NOT provide full signal strenght from your PC/Projector and rarely support a clear 1080p picture. We suggest purchasing from a seller that distinguishes this difference in their notes field."

So I paid just a little more for 2 sets of these (for 2 new PCs I had just purchased). Some of the cheaper slections received good, yet mixed, ratings. I didn't want to take the risk on the cheaper cables to save a few dollars. Why purchase a nice PC to potentially cheapen your setup with questionable cables at a small price difference? Still, I didn't want to pay top-dollar for more expensive cables that apparently weren't really any better. If you're like me, these cables are good ones to get. I have a nice, crisp display on both PCs (both equipped with new, wide-screen monitors).

You might find another set for a little cheaper with the same quality (since there are so many choices), but these are perfect for the price without the risk of receiving sub-par quality and materials.

Don't pay retail price

HDMI cables at retail go for stupid insane prices. Some start around $40, and I've seen them north of $150 for Monster Cables. Total rip off. See, back in the days when audio/video was still handled over analog cable, you could (arguably) get much better quality by using high end super-cables with stuff like gold plating. Companies made a fortune charging idiots who didn't know any better for these high end cables.

Now, we have digital audio and video, like HDMI. One of the neat things about digital is that the signal doesn't degrade. You either have one or you don't, and the cable quality simply controls the maximum length. These companies couldn't simply have their market collapse though, so they still sell these overpriced cables to suckers.

You're reading this review, so you're not a sucker. Don't buy expensive digital cables, ever. This one works perfectly well connecting my computer to my Vizio TV, and quality is perfect.

No need to pay more, and no problems connecting to an HDTV

I used this cable to connect my old xp machine to my hdtv to use as a media center. The product does exactly what it is meant to do, without any problems whatsoever. I don't know if I would trust anything cheaper than this (I've had a few bad experiences in the past), but I would definitely not pay a penny more.

The audio can be tricky, since this doesn't actually pass any audio to your TV. Most hdtv's (including my Panasonic plasma) allow you to connect your audio to ANY audio jack in the TV, and then go through the settings to "pair" that audio jack with the hdmi input. Just check the manual or do a search online for it.

As for resolution, I had to set my machine (with a very old video card) to a lower resolution. Just play around with different resolutions until you find one that fits nicely. Mine has a thin black bar going around the screen, since an actual 720p resolution was somehow too large. However, the black bar is no problem for us, and I don't even notice it most of the time. Nothing is cut off unless you pick a resolution that is too high for the TV.

Converts HDMI to DVI with HDCP

I bought this cable to connect my Playstation 3 to an HDTV set that has only DVI (I think it's DVI-I) but no HDMI. This cable works beautifully. Image quality is really good. The price just can't be beat.

You should be aware that while HDMI carries both audio and video, DVI is video only, so you still need to route the audio to your TV somehow. For example, I use an optical digital audio cable to do that (together with an expensive converter box as my old HDTV set doesn't have an optical input).
