Review

"I adored the story. It was intriguing, entertaining, & heart-wrenching & I loved every minute of it." -Living Life With Joy

"The novel had an overall light chick lit feel, but also touched on deeper real life issues. I found this story emotionally engaging. It had me giggling most of the way through it, then caught me by surprise by getting me all choked up near the end." -Hey Said Renee

"Caching In was a cute little story about how sometimes you can find the neatest things in the last place you'd have thought to look, and how pushing through frustration can end in success." -Chick Lit Central

I was delighted to find this blog tour as the book jumped out at me. Why you ask? One reason - geocaching! I am a huge fan of geocaching, have found quite a lot around the country, and enjoy introducing other people to it.
So what is geocaching? Basically it is a worldwide GPS based treasure hunt. You can use your smartphone with an app, or a GPS unit itself. The idea is to use GPS to find boxes, ranging in size, which people have hidden. There are clues which can be used, and you can always gain further information from previous finders comments and/or photos. It's something which appeals to all ages and is great fun.
But onto the story! Ally stumbles into the world of geocaches by pure chance. On hearing about it she decides to try it out as a way of giving her something to do which involved getting out and about. On her first trip out she bumps into Seth, a fellow geocaching fan. Seth kindle offers to help Ally get used to the process.
A shared interest in geocaching turns into something more. But issues from the past come to the fore, and unfortunately true love hits a huge bump in the road. Will the past ruin what is happening in the present, or does fate have a happier ending for this pair?
This is a lovely sweet story about a couple who deserve happiness in their lives. Laughter and tears both feature a lot. The author really drew me in immediately with the first chapter, and I was engrossed in the story until the end. A lot happens in the story but, for me, the geocaching element certainly gave it that little something extra.
Give the story a try and, should you be intrigued enough, give geocaching a try. At the very least you will hopefully enjoy a great story. But who knows, perhaps you will discover places you didn't know existed.

I didn't care for it. Mostly I think it is because the heroine seems so immature. I read that she is 29 but she acted more like 16 to me. She meets this gorgeous guy and she is immediately thinking of hopping in the back seat of her car and making out with him. She hadn't known him 30 minutes! This she passes judgment because he answers a call on his phone and has to return to home base because of his dad. Well, she wonders why as an adult he can't make his own decisions and not letting his dad influence him. She has no idea if he has been hurt, is sick, or what! And the best friend, good grief if ever there was a total nut job this gal is it. Having an affair with a guy that has a girl friend and has just become engaged to girl friend but she is sure that he really loves her and is only waiting for the right moment to break it off with the fiancé. How do gals find this kind of guy and how can they miss seeing what they are? Oh, I know, they are "in love". Boy does that do a number on "love". Oh well, I just didn't seem to really be enjoying these characters or their journey so I decided to quit and move on.

So, I didn't not finish the book. I did read some of the reviews and found I agreed more with the 2-3 star reviews than I did the higher ones. I'm sure it is a story a lot of folks will enjoy, just not for me.

Review originally posted on my blog www.LivingLifeWithJoy.com

When I first heard about Tracy’s novel Caching In, I was a bit mystified because I had never heard of geocaching and hadn’t the slightest idea what is was. For those who have never head of it, geocaching is an outdoor game of searching for hidden objects by using Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates posted on the Internet. It might be easier to explain that it’s like a treasure hunt. You find things called a cache that other people have hidden to find; a cache is the treasure you find. You don’t get to keep it, but you do get to claim that you’ve found it and provide evidence that you found it. It sounds like a fun hobby and it’s always fun and exciting for me to learn about something new through my reading.

Within the first few pages, I knew that Tracy was going to be one of my new favorite authors and had earned herself a spot on my list of go-to authors. I enjoyed her writing style and sense of humor and I can’t wait to read all of her previous novels as soon as possible! The minute I finished reading Caching In I was inspired to read a short story she’d written, Early Bird Special.

Ally has had a string of unfortunate events in her life from a failed romance to a dead-end job and she’s at the point where things are so bad that they can only get better. Her only love interest is Harry Styles [yes, THE Harry Styles from One Direction] but she’s completely happy with her fictitious boyfriend for the moment. When she decides to pick up a new hobby, she meets gorgeous Seth Hayes and it looks like things in her life might finally start falling into place.

One of the things I loved in the story were the strong family bonds and romantic relationships throughout the novel.

This book had everything I love from a chicklit/romantic comedy. A funny and sarcastic heroine that made me laugh out loud. A girl friendship that that felt real and believable. A love interest with a past who I couldn't help but adore. I really enjoyed the geocaching angle as well. It added a little intrigue and taught me something new as well. A really solid novel that I ripped straight through!
