The reason for my five star rating is mainly based on that being the most available. Most of Cade's novels deserve an even higher rating and I am yet to find one that I can set aside until the final episode is read. Mr. Vaughan, like Mr. Box of the Joe Pickett series, is a very formidable Author and I have been a reader of his works since the very first book I read by him. To any readers of great western novels I sincerely recommend any books written by Mr. Vaughan, as you will never be disappointed.

This is the third book in the series and it can be read as a standalone book but you will enjoy it better if you have read the other two books first. The story begins with Cade drunk and trying to get over the death of his wife. He finally sobers up after costing his friend his saloon and goes into a partnership in a freight company. Now in Dodge City Cade and friends battle a criminal vigilante group.

The stories were well written, my only preference was that I am not a great fan of a story written in the first person by an author about a character. Personally, I'd just prefer "the story". I'd recommend these books to any western fan.
