A poor release from the Cafe Del Mar stable. Gone are the albums of old featuring stand-out tracks amidst a collection of likeable Balearic beats.
Instead we get track after track of humdrum chillout fodder that is found on so many competing albums. There's nothing memorable here.
The best offerings on Cafe 19 wouldn't have made it onto the first five or six Cafe Del Mar compilations full stop.
Listening through, it was screaming out for a Talvin Singh's Traveller or D*Note's Devotion, something to gladen the heart, lift spirits and ultimately give the listenere some 'wow' factor.
I own every Cafe release and it's had its peaks and troughs - but this is so lacking it could be the worst compilation yet.
A rethink is needed or the series will die very soon. And that's something none of us fans want to see.

This is a new release in the Cafe del Mar series and once again shows why Cafe del Mar is THE leader of the pack when it comes to creating the perfect eclectic mix of atmospheric electronica and moody laid back rhythmic tunes....The artists are often quite obscure (though a typically melancholic Moby features here complete with tinkling piano and Kate Bush turns up on a deep-voiced remix of Running Up That Hill) yet this unknown quantity doesn't detract - the productions are slick and sophisticated, the vibes gloriously relaxed, sometimes primal, sometimes veering towards the spiritual (check out the final track on CD2 by Bliss "End Titles", and the vocals are calming even if draped over a beat....This is perfect music for a late night setting, be it in a cafe or at home, and a perfect prelude to nightfall and beyond...

A very nice compilation though I feel that it reflects the mood of the economy crisis the world is going through. This may be positive for some and negative for others.
