This is book three in the Scorpion series and I have to say, it is now my favorite! When I first met Cage, I didn't like him at all. What I love about this author is how she writes people how we see them in real life. He came across as a man who liked a lot of women and really had no regard for commitment to anyone. He was all about himself. You get a glimpse of the 'real' Cage when Vlad has to have surgery in book two and can't play, leaving Cage to take over his spot as lead goalie but still, he seemed all about himself.

Karen LaGrange wants to be friends, though you get that feeling that she's in denial as she is drawn to him. She's been hurt in the past and though she wants to move on, the road to happiness is not easy for her.

I loved how the author took us down the road to see the 'real' Cage. So often in life you meet people and take them at face value. Cage is one of those characters that if he were sitting in the room with me, I'd want to get to know the 'real' him. I felt for him through this whole book as I did for Karen. They both had things they were going through and it took them a while to realize that their other half was the key to helping them along the way.

They have their ups and downs in this book (I'm not giving spoilers), the writer does a great job bringing them together and there was a bit of a shocker for me at the end but it's bringing a new series from Nikki for us to read and that excited me so much, I have already forgiven her! This is my FAVORITE book so far and Cage is my new BBF!

Cage's Misconduct. Where to start. The first couple of paragraphs I thought "Oh, this isn't for me."I thought it was going to be a book full of wham bam, thank you ma'am. Ohhhh BOY was I wrong. There's a way deeper story. You have Cage. Hockey badboy & a MAJOR playboy. Attitude to spare. A guy everyone on the team knows is a player.

Then you have Karen. Sister to one of Cage's former teammates. Karen's Canadian, so she's in San Diego temporarily especially when her job working with special needs kids is eliminated. Karen is kind & sweet, and the baby sister of Jody, who is super protective of her. You get to know some of the things that's happened to Karen, including abuse at the hands of an ex when she was young which is the reason for Jody's overprotectiveness.
Cage sees Karen at the wedding of a teammate & sets his sights on her, but she's no fool. She doesn't fall for his charms. All she's interested in is friendship. Cage is OK with that, to start with. He never hides the fact that he wants her.

After a while, she changes her mind on the physical side of their relationship. They're on their way to his place when the unthinkable happens. Drunk kids, speeding, and running red lights. I won't tell any more, but at this point, you get into an even deeper story.

It's a lot sweeter than I anticipated. Like I said, at first I thought this book wasn't for me, but a few paragraphs in & I was hooked. I will say it can be a little confusing, it alternates perspective. One chapter is from Cage's point of view, the next is Karen's. You have your parts where you laugh, you have parts where you cry. You get mad, I mean good and mad. And you have your omg, how beautiful is that parts. Yes, the main characters are hockey players.

When Nikki Worrell said she was going to write a book about the Hot New Young Goalie for The Scorpions I was so excited. The first two book in this series were fantastic but Reading Dalton"Cage" Booker's story brought this series to a whole new level.
When we met Cage all you saw was a total Player, A Manwhore, A Hot Head but really what we didn't know that there was a man with such a big heart and love for his family that you fell in love with him right then and their.
Karen LaGrange sister to over protective Enforcer Jody is visiting him and his wife Lacey after losing her job and what you see is a woman who sees Cage in a different light and the attraction between the two if magnificent and you can feel it with every page you turn.
Cage & Karen go through so many obstacles between her brother, his reputation and just life that have you at times laughing out loud and even reaching for the tissues. But the one thing that you want to see is that these two definitely deserve a HEA and you are cheering them on throughout their entire story.
If you love all things hockey, romance, and everything in between then not only is the book you want to read this is the series you don't want to miss.

I love this series and I think this is her best book of their series so far! This story is about Cage, goalie now for the Scorpions, and Karen, who is the much protected younger sister of a former Scorpions player. Cage is a major player and really made now apologies for it. Karen had a traumatic event as a young adult that makes her who she is today. When she loses her job working with special needs children in Canada she moves to San Diego to be near her brother. Against her brother's wishes she and Cage become friends. But Cage wants more. Can he convince Karen to give him a chance? Or is it once a man whore, always a man whore?
