"They were two more (bad guys) in the corner of the room that were dispersed of before they had a chance to reach their assault rifles." "They were?" "dispersed of?"
"The rest of the team carefully reached the basement steps and began descending down." Really? As opposed to descending up or maybe sideways?
"He summoned for a few operators to meet him." "summoned for?" Really?
"They were eager to finally talk to him and see what the effects of the surgery was." Arrrrggghhh! "were" not "was" Effects were! It's called subject-verb agreement.
"How you feeling, soldier?" This is said by a very high-level spymaster in the government. Wouldn't such a figure include the verb "are" in that inquiry, rather than sounding "street?"
That was where I had to stop. I couldn't continue. This was some of the choppiest, sketchiest, and clumsiest writing I've encountered in a long time in a published novel. I cannot recall a time when I just had to stop reading a book because the English was so awful.
Sorry Mike Ryan, this book is an insult to readers. Shame on you!
Did anyone edit or proofread this?
Plural words with apostrophes, past tense mixed with present, unreferenced pronouns, and spelling errors are just a few of the issues.
Hire someone to fix the errors and re-release the book. Based on this effort, I have to assume the rest of the series is equally poorly constructed, but I'm not willing to find out.
