Enjoy this recipe from Grama G's Top Ten Can't get enough Cake Recipe Book.
White Wild Blueberry Cake
This cake has always been the incentive for a traditional wild blueberry harvest. Since I can remember, every August my dad and I headed out to find the most abundant blueberry patches. Coming home with pails full of fresh picked berries, my mom would then fold them into this dense, moist cake. The warm brown sugar sauce poured overtop makes this one irresistible!

Mix
2 ¼ cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
1 ½ cups white sugar

Add
½ cup shortening
¾ cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Beat in
¼ cup milk
3 eggs

Fold in 1 cup of blueberries.
Pour into greased baking pan and Bake @ 350F for 35-45 min.

This cake must be served with the warm brown sugar sauce, the two go hand in hand.

Hello, My name is Rose Taylor....

The idea of putting a cookbook together came to me recently after a friend emailed me begging yet again for me to share one of my recipes with her.

You see.....for years my friends have been asking for my recipes, not all my recipes, certain ones in particular, my gram's recipes! I bought this Kindle book in July of 2012. My first job was in a bakery many moons ago and all my cakes are done from scratch. I am a retired gent and still enjoy baking my own goodies and eating/sharing them. I decided to review the book today because I am doing the Banana Cake. Kroger had a ton of ripe bananas yesterday.

I have tried all the recipes in this book but one, the Zucchini cake (just not for me). I must say, the recipes are pretty good. The Orange Cake is my favorite but it took me three times to 'get it right.' If you are comfortable baking, these recipes can be easily adapted to your preferences.

If I had one itty bitty complaint, it would be that I wished the author would have listed the ingredients by weight. Also, if you have a convection oven, you should note that these recipes should be adjusted for convection. The times and temps appear to be for a standard oven.

I also like to use a lot more vanilla. I love vanilla.

Of note: It seems a bit odd to frost the Coffee Cake with Butter Cream Icing as this book seems to suggest. Perhaps I misread the recipe I don't know...

Overall, this is a tasty little cookbook filled with homey cake recipes.
