Product description
The most anticipated game of the year and the most ambitious Call of Duty® game ever, Call of Duty®: Black Ops II is coming to Wii U. Call of Duty: Black Ops II delivers the most groundbreaking and viscerally immersive Call of Duty® experience yet. Rooted in near-future fiction, the title propels players into a visual landscape in an epic single player campaign highlighted by branching storylines and non-linear missions; a re-imagined multiplayer that introduces players to some of the most cutting-edge weaponry and equipment that 2025 will have to offer; and punctuated with an all-new Zombies experience running in the multiplayer engine.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II on Wii U
- HD Experience: The title features the most advanced textures, lighting and shadowing systems in series history, all of which are on full display on Wii U.
- Second-Screen Gameplay: Utilizing Wii U’s second-screen experience with the Wii U GamePads™, Call of Duty: Black Ops II players can join the action in a full Call of Duty® experience from the second-screen. Plus, with the state of the art Wii Touchscreen, gamers can view multiplayer maps, call in score streaks and choose loadouts.
- Expanded Functionality: Players have the option of using Wii U’s split-screen functionality to use both the GamePad™ and the Wii U Pro controller. Wii U also supports up to four controllers, including the Nintendo Wii Remote™ and Nunchuck.
- Controller Choices: Use the GamePad touch screen to customize controls in real-time, or switch at any time to use another controller of your choice, including:
- Wii Remote
- Classic Controller Pro
- Game Pad
- WiiU Pro Controller
- All-New Create-A-Class: Create-a-class has been re-imagined, introducing players to a new “pick-10” allocation system, allowing an unprecedented number of combinations of create-a-class content. Players no longer have to take content from each category; instead, trade items from one category for extra items in another – any combination of 10 items makes almost anything possible.
- New Score Streaks: Score Streaks reward players for helping their team win the game: capturing flags, defending your teammate with an assault shield, getting kills and assists are all examples of actions that help your team win and thus give you score. Each action has a different value and can influence the theater of operations.
- eSports on Wii U via League Play: Competition is fun at any level, which is why Treyarch has introduced League Play, offering skill-based matchmaking and seasonal ladders. Play a small number of matches to get your skill rating, and from there, you’ll be placed into a division with players of similar skill. Keep winning and you’ll move up in rank – steady progress will move you up the ladder and into upper divisions. Skill-based matchmaking ensures that you are challenged but not out-gunned. League play is for everyone. Additionally, CODcasting is part of the mix, allowing fans to commentate their favorite games.
- Upgraded Weapons, Attachments and Equipment: Near-future warfare means upgrades in technology that soldiers will use in the field. Additionally, weapon perks are now built into the attachments.
- More Multiplayer: Call of Duty: Black Ops II on Wii U includes Challenges, Core & Party Game Modes, Custom Games, Combat Training, Theater Enhancements, Emblem Editor and Prestiging.
Zombies
The Biggest Zombies Experience to Date: Call of Duty: Black Ops II Zombies features three different ways to survive the zombie apocalypse. Unravel the mysteries of a dying Earth in Tranzit, fight endless waves of zombies in Survival mode, or compete in the new 4z4 last-human-standing mode, Grief.
Tranzit
1-4 player co-op in a large open world with a variety of locations. The new Buildables gameplay elements help players move through each area to find the key tidbits that reveal why they are there and what they must do to survive. All the while, public transportation is still operational, as a bus will regularly stop at each location. Zombies ride for free.
Survival
Recreating the classic mode of just purely surviving the shambling, incoming Zombie horde, Survival mode allows you to play 1-4 players co-op in specific locations from the much larger Tranzit area.
Grief
You and friends can take on up to 4 people in a team vs. Zombies vs. team scenario. 2-8 players are thrown in a situation to be the last humans standing.
MP Technology with Zombies: Call of Duty: Black Ops II features new and extensive stat tracking as well as leaderboards for bragging rights. New skill-based matchmaking system will allow players of the same ability to take on the horrors of the night in public game modes. For players that are looking for an extra challenge, Zombies features custom games: Headshots only, higher starting rounds, and toggling of extra items are all available.

Pros
the touchscreen is amazing for this game. yes your hands might get tired after a long play session, but the touch screen is amazing it really adds an element to this game that no other system can bring to it. the graphics too are better in my opinion on the wii u when i compare it xbox 360 (i have games on both systems) it looks sharper on the wii u . i play on a 60 inch vizio tv. other than that though not much difference
Also the ofscreen play is awesome playing cod with my headphones while in bed with my wife is amazing although my hands do go numb from holding the game pad for a couple hours setting it down for a couple seconds helps allot. and you also need to make sure you are by an outlet to keep it plugged in that battery will run out quick
Cons
On any given day there are about 600 to 500 active players sometimes even 700 and 90 percent of them only play TDM!!! its very difficult to play any other game mode and even when you do there are only like 20 or so people in those lobbies so cue times can take really long and even when they dont your stuck in half empty games which is no fun.
DLC you will not get any on the wii u version nuff said. nuketown is the only map we have received and that was about two years later
now something that belongs in both pros and cons category i will separate in my review SKILL LEVEL! if you are not really good at cod games get it for the wii u the player base is not as skill full as lets say most of the people that play on the 360/ps3 . there are way more little kids and families playing on the wii u. even my wife managed to get a couple kills online while playing split screen and she didnt even know she got them till the game was over (which was hilarious) over all its way more laid back and easy playing on the wii u especially if your a casual. as far as the con goes if your really competitive you wont find that many players that are really good on the wii u they are rare so you might not be able to scratch that "What a hard fought" win feel you get after a close game.
overall this game is amazing on the wii u, but with the lack of dlc and deep population the best parts of cod are never fully realized. i could only imagine this game on 360 with the gamepad features it would be awesome. but again its cheap now and its really not a bad game at all to have for the wii u
Pros -
- great gun selection, there's around 40 different weapons and they are all unique and well balanced. It's easy to find a specific gun that suits how you play.
- Good network - lag and disconnects have been very minimal for me
Cons -
- low playerbase, other than team deathmatch, domination and free for all it can be a little hard to find games on other modes at times.
- knifing is somewhat broken. It is insanely hard to knife people in this game, very easy to miss and there's no lock on mechanic or lunge.
- Low health. I wish you had more health, it is very easy to die in this game. Everyone drops like a fly in just a few bullets. This makes getting the higher scorestreaks extremely difficult and encourages camping and defensive play which is no fun for anyone.
EDIT: I've had to lower my score to 4 stars simply because it was decided that there will be no DLC released for the wii u version, which hurts a lot. I'm so tired of the 10 or so maps available that I could puke. It's very sad that Treyarch has decided to give the middle finger to wii u users. I won't be buying anymore COD games on Wii U unless they release DLC. This is a monumental letdown for COD lovers on the Wii U.
