I particularly enjoyed the section in which Cristina's eleven attributes for empowerment are presented. These include confidence, respect, compassion, humility and courage to mention just a few. I enjoyed the creative way she introduced them.
Each attribute is examined through a traditional fairy tale. Then it is discussed as a concept with lots of examples from Cristina's work experiences as a paediatrician. Finally this is followed by an analysis of a modern woman who exemplified the attribute. So Condoleezza Rice demonstrates confidence and Mother Teresa exemplifies humility. A worksheet with questions follows each attribute to investigate the progress of the reader. However it is more than just a handbook for working through your own empowerment issues. It is a piece of writing that is staunchly supportive of women.
The aim of all her advice is to "create a world where equal rights exist for everyone and where respect is the basis for all relationships" both at work and in personal life.
Coming from a background of psychology, I found the book an interesting take on empowerment. I feel that Cristina raised fresh issues that invite open discussion.
