The relatively swift removal of a real human footprint in the flesh and blood social world is a particularly cruel fate and a great cautionary tale. If "The Twilight Zone" TV series were resurrected, an abridged version of "Calling Mr. Beige" would merit an episode in season one. This is a good story in any era, but perfect for the current zeitgeist. The premise that being socially invisible could drive a person to the edge is all too accurate.
Mr. Harris' intelligently-absurd style of humor would make the best of the British comedic writers proud.
Stylistically, Mr. Harris is equally gifted when it comes to writing dialogue versus descriptive passages.
I look forward to learning what happens next, and hope that the sequel is not too long in coming!
