I absolutely love this cookbook. Most of the cookbooks I have bought in the past you would have to go to the grocery store to purchase the things listed in order to make the recipe. This cookbook uses common stuff most of which you have in your pantry. And the recipes are not from some famous celebrity chef or other highly trained chefs they are from regular people like me who don't want to spend all day running to find the ingredients and then come home and spend the rest of the night in the kitchen cooking them. Simple, easy to understand recipes that the whole family will enjoy.

I ordered this book back in November, and it is a great cookbook with many great recipes. There are no pictures but the quality and variety of the recipes are great. There are various versions of the same recipe, based on what you may have in your pantry. I really like that feature. I love that the book has more than 700 pages of quality and informative recipes. There is something to impress the most discerning cook. You are sure to impress guest with many of the recipes. I got the book at a great value for the number of recipes it contains, under $9.00, and that is such a bargain. Although I haven't made any thing from the book as of yet, however I did peruse the book and viewed many of the recipes the book contains. I do look forward to making recipes in the near future. I now plan to purchase the other volumns as well, and hope they are just as good. I think you will be very pleased with this cookbook.

Simple filling food. Just what you used to find at church suppers, cookouts, reunions & funerals. Big book with many recipes. Unfortunately, it is one of those books that have at least 3 recipes for the same thing. Example : spaghetti sauce. They go hog wild with those kinds of recipes, That's how this book ended up being about 713 pages.

Some strange recipes in there too. Pork fruit cake???? Just don't know about that, think I will pass.. Fun reading for the most part. And just in case I forget how to make green bean casserole, I have a couple of versions to remind me. Broccoli casserole? Sixteen different versions. I guess this is better than searching the internet & making comparisons to see which one you want to make.

Make sure your pantry is well stocked with Campbell's everything soup, or just make your own healthy version. Oh yes, macaroni & cheese, macaroni & cheese casserole & last but not least, smack-aroni & cheese plus 4 other versions. Sorry, I just could not pass that one up.

This book will replace a lot of those little spiral bound books from your local library, church or where ever. Enjoy!

I received this book as a wedding gift 24 years ago. My copy has been so "well loved" that it is falling apart. I have given this book as a gift to many others ranging from beginners to gourmets. There is something wonderful here for everyone from the most basic recipes to wonderful specialties. Buy it! You'll be glad you did!

This book looked awful familiar when I first laid eyes on it.
And lo and behold it is the repository of ALL my spouses mothers best and very rarely shared recipes for dishes that were fan favorites at the yearly family reunions.
Viola' in one fell swoop I have bested the stuff of family legend.
Now I too can serve up all the yummy congealed salads and highly fattening but oh so yummy hash brown casserole...
A definite win!

I have two shelves of cookbooks that I've collected over the years, but I don't use them anymore because there are so many recipes on the internet. Then a relative really impressed me with an excellent dinner made with recipes from this cookbook. It's the only cookbook she owns. I borrowed it to make sure that it wouldn't be just another cookbook that I'll never open. I found it was really outstanding, so I bought my own copy. It not only has great recipes, it explains how and why certain procedures are done, similar to the old Betty Crocker cookbooks, Joy of Cooking cookbook, etc. The font is easy to read which is very helpful while following a recipe. I'll still use the internet but probably only for comparison for recipes in this cookbook. If you need to see pictures of the finished product, be forewarned that this cookbook doesn't have graphics.

This is the best of the Bell aka Pioneer cookbooks. I bought my first one from the Pioneer club who meet to discuss recipes. My first copy was claimed by someone else and I had to buy another. So you may want to write your name in it. Lol

I've had one of these books for ages. It got so worn out my husband took it to the print shop where he works and rebound it for me. Unfortunately, when our house burned over a year ago it was the one cookbook that didn't make it back home. I guess the packers wanted it - right? After all, the kitchen and dining room where the cookbooks were didn't burn - lol!
