"Studies have shown that keeping a food and exercise journal helps individuals achieve successful weight loss." As a registered dietitian who works with people wanting to be healthier, this is something I tell my clients all the time. Whether they want to improve their eating habits, lower their blood pressure, control their blood sugar, improve their cholesterol, or lose weight (sometimes all of these), tracking their calorie intake along with their exercise habits helps them realize their goals. This journal is for practically anyone interested in tracking calories. This is more than a food journal. Basic information on nutrition, goal setting, and how to use the journal are also included in the first quarter of the book. I'm always looking for a journal to recommend to my clients and this 8.5" x 5" spiral bound journal will work for most of them.

As a registered dietitian, I know numerous studies have found that journaling is a key to successful weight loss and maintenance. For those who have trouble getting started, this book may be just the key. A compact, soft-cover, spiral-bound book, it can easily fit into a purse, tote or briefcase so it's always handy to jot down everything you eat or drink. Introductory information in the first 64 pages explains how to calculate calorie needs, determine serving sizes, develop diet goals and use the journal. The remaining 190 pages provide a day/page to record meals and snacks, check off fluid and fruit/vegetable intake and log exercise. It's simple and easy to use and sure to make you more aware of what you are eating so you can take of unwanted pounds.

As a registered dietitian/licensed nutritionist with over 20 years of experience in weight loss, I HIGHLY recommend this journal for anyone who would like to help ensure not only a healthy weight, but a healthy diet and lifestyle as well. This journal is full of really helpful information, including how to set SMART goals to really hone in on what you want to achieve. There are also great sections on figuring out where you are in stages of change, and also a nice section on physical activity and tips for athletes. This journal is a real "keeper," and surely something I'll be recommending to my patients for a long time to come!

This book was just what I was looking for! Keeping an accurate and detailed record of what you eat is essential to losing weight and keeping it off for good. This book explains the ins and outs of how to keep a food journal as well as provides a terrific journal you can keep for weeks to help you be successful. The book is also full of very helpful information on weight loss, eating for sports nutrition, and eating to improve health. Whether you yourself need guidance on calorie counting and keeping a food record or you work with those who do, this is a must have!

I made the mistake of thinking this was a list of the calories for many types of food and drink items. It is not that. It is a book of pages on which you can keep track of your daily calorie count after you know how many calories each of the items you have eaten totals. That I can do with a blank notepad. My mistake for ordering this. I guess I think of a Journal being a printed newspaper of information rather than a pad on which to list things.

I have been looking for just this type of journal. I'm an active and fit person but find that I needed a simple, convenient way to put all of my goals and history together. This fits the bill perfectly and will have a place in my briefcase. Although I'm sure it will be a handy tool for anyone that wants to use the power of putting something down on paper to reinforce their goals and actions, it seems like a perfect tool for the amateur athlete hoping to advance their exercise efforts and support their weight targets.

It is well documented that people who keep track of what they eat and drink are more successful at weight loss than those who do not. Sometimes it is hard just getting started. In the The Calorie Counter Journal for Dummies®, Rust and Raffetto present changing habits as a motivating journey to a healthier lifestyle for the average person as well as for the athlete who wants to improve their competitive edge. The section on goals determines where you are in terms of behavior change, visualizing what you want to achieve, setting SMART goals, and not just focusing on the scale as a measure of success. The journal itself has 24 weeks which allows you to easily stay focused and reflect upon your progress. Rosanne and Meri have successfully "made everything easier" as their cover says.

The spiral binding helps a lot! The meal breakdown is great. The Improvements could be made on logging workouts: I needed more room. But I am buying a second one. Great product for cheap!
